2 men charged after allegedly importing over 2,000 vaping-related items in separate cases

SINGAPORE – Two men, believed to be involved in separate cases, were at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Nov 15 when they were caught with more than 2,000 vaping-related items in total.

On Nov 17, Malaysians Lim Teck Wee, 19, and Muhammad Amirul Iqbal Mohd Nazri, 21, were handed a total of three charges linked to the unlawful importation of such items.

Lim, who faces two charges, was at Woodlands Checkpoint shortly before 9am on Nov 15 when he allegedly imported into Singapore items including 870 disposable vaporisers and 200 boxes, each containing three pods.

Amirul was at the checkpoint at around 8pm that day when he allegedly imported 1,000 e-vaporiser devices into Singapore.

In a statement on Nov 17, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said that both men were driving Malaysia-registered vehicles before they were caught.

HSA added that Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officers had found the e-vaporisers in a car that Amirul was driving.

The authorities also uncovered vaping-related items in a van that Lim had driven.
