Elderly man dies after incident at Laguna Park, police arrest 23-year-old and seize penknives

Several black evidence boxes were seen stacked on a trolley on the 14th floor, while two police vehicles were parked at the carpark below.

Residents living on the 14th floor said they did not hear any commotion earlier in the day, and were startled to find the staircase sealed off.

Vincent Loy, a 73-year-old businessman who lives on that floor, said he was surprised to return home with his wife around 4.15pm to find officers there.

He added that he rarely witnessed conflicts between neighbours. “We get along well, I talk with my neighbours often,” he said.

Muffled shouting heard

A family on the 10th floor told Stomp that they heard muffled sounds of shouting at around 2.45pm, which went on for about a minute.

“It was a different kind of shouting,” said Mervin, a 44-year-old designer. “Something was wrong – it was not normal.”

His wife, Micah, also in design, said the shouting was audible even with their windows and doors closed. The couple, who have lived there for six years with their two children aged five and nine, described the condo as typically quiet.

They said they rarely heard any conflict among neighbours.

Police investigations are ongoing.
