Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone could have an in-screen selfie camera

The idea of an in-screen camera isn’t new, since several Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series and RedMagic gaming phones have had this feature for some years. However, because display layers will block light from reaching the camera sensor, the image quality is lower than conventional implementations. If Apple plans to bring this feature to the 2027 iPhone, it would probably have developed new technologies to address this issue.

The plan to introduce an in-screen camera also aligns with recent reports of an all-screen iPhone arriving in 2027. Earlier this year, The Information reported that at least one new 2027 iPhone model would have the selfie camera and Face ID embedded under the display. Bloomberg also describes the 2027 iPhone lineup as “a major shake-up”, which suggests a major design overhaul for the device.

Using the iPhone’s 20th anniversary to unveil a design that looks like “a single slab of glass” with no notch, cutout, or bezels seems perfectly in line with Apple’s playbook.
