
Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan met his Malaysian counterpart Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad Hasan in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen ties and prepare for the upcoming Singapore–Malaysia Leaders’ Retreat.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad Hasan in Kuala Lumpur ahead of the 12th Singapore–Malaysia Leaders’ Retreat, which will be hosted in Singapore next month. The meeting reaffirmed the close and enduring ties between the two neighbours, underpinned by shared history, mutual trust, and strong cooperation.
Both ministers had a substantive and forward-looking discussion that followed up on the recent meeting between Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the ASEAN Summit. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges, while managing outstanding issues constructively.
Dr Balakrishnan and Minister Mohamad Hasan reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining a positive trajectory in Singapore–Malaysia relations. They agreed that continued dialogue and close coordination are key to ensuring stability and sustained growth, benefiting both nations and their peoples.
