At the end of the plan period, you own the device, and the warranty period expires with the plan, as SmartPlan’s coverage extends beyond the normal warranty period.

What’s included?

Besides the product itself, SmartPlan includes delivery, installation and additional care services beyond the standard warranty. Depending on the product, customers get:

Phones and tablets: One or two years of coverage, screen repairs at fixed fees, free collection and delivery, and access to overseas repair services.

TVs: Discounted panel repairs, two free remote-control replacements, relocation installation and 20% off selected sound devices.

Refrigerators and washing machines: Scheduled cleaning, maintenance visits, health checks and monthly home care reports.

Repairs and support: Genuine Samsung replacement parts, labour and transport for eligible repairs, along with access to Samsung Remote Service.

Samsung says the idea is to reduce the hassle of maintaining expensive electronics, particularly as people keep their appliances for longer.

How does Samsung SmartPlan compare with LG Subscribe?

Samsung isn’t the first to offer this approach in Singapore. LG introduced its LG Subscribe service in 2025, allowing customers to spread the cost of home appliances over three, five or seven years, with extended warranties and regular maintenance included. Depending on the product, customers choose between self-care packages with replacement consumables delivered to their homes or LG Careship, which includes scheduled visits by technicians. Like SmartPlan, customers keep their appliances once they complete the payment period.

The biggest difference is how the two schemes handle payments and product care.

Samsung’s SmartPlan covers a wider mix of devices, including smartphones and tablets, with shorter payment periods of one to five years. LG Subscribe offers longer contracts and places greater emphasis on regular appliance servicing. More importantly, LG Subscribe requires no upfront payment, whereas Samsung customers need a credit card with sufficient available credit to cover the entire purchase amount, even though payments are made monthly. Neither scheme automatically works out cheaper than buying outright, so consumers should compare the total cost, warranty coverage, maintenance benefits and any additional fees before signing up.

There is one important catch with SmartPlan. Samsung deducts the full purchase amount from the customer’s available credit limit upfront, much like a conventional credit card instalment plan. This means customers still need sufficient credit at the point of purchase, despite spreading payments over several years.

Care benefits also differ between products, and certain repairs carry additional service fees.

Samsung SmartPlan is now available through the Samsung Singapore website, where customers can select eligible products, compare payment durations and check the included care services before signing up.

Launched yesterday, Singapore is the first market in Southeast Asia and Oceania to get SmartPlan, with Samsung planning to introduce the service progressively across the…

[32
788,2741,640,1585,22,32456
post-97756","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tech-gadgets-reviews","tag-buy","tag-monthly","tag-pay","tag-samsung","tag-singapore","tag-smartplan","wpcat-32-id
["GET
