A 64-year-old man has been arrested after locking himself inside his Ang Mo Kio HDB flat in the early hours of Thursday (Nov 5).<\/p>\n
A livestream of the incident shared on TikTok on Thursday showed a safety life air pack placed at the foot of the residential block, with the surrounding area cordoned off.<\/p>\n
Several police officers were also seen gathered around the scene.<\/p>\n
In another video shared subsequently, a man could be seen being escorted by police officers to a vehicle.<\/p>\n
Responding to queries from AsiaOne, the police said they received a call for assistance at about 12.20am at Block 420 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, a 64-year-old man was found to have locked himself in his residential unit and was believed to pose a danger to himself.<\/p>\n
Officers from the police’s Crisis Negotiation Unit and the Singapore Civil Defence Force were deployed to the scene.<\/p>\n
At about 2.50am, police officers managed to gain entry into the unit and arrested the man for carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.<\/p>\n
A knife was seized as a case exhibit. Police investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
