A woman got irritated after quarrelling with a male youth in an MRT cabin, but the pair continued sitting next to each other despite the altercation.<\/p>\n

Footage of the dispute<\/a> was shared on the @sgfollowsall Instagram page on Nov 4, showing the woman occupying a priority seat next to the youth.<\/p>\n

In the accompanying caption, the youth was accused of \u201cragebaiting\u201d the older woman by refusing to give up his seat.<\/p>\n

Even though the woman is already seated when the video begins, the argument seems far from over.<\/p>\n

\u201cMine is a senior card, what are you talking about?\u201d she says to the youth. \u201cSee,\u201d she adds, displaying her card near the youth\u2019s face.<\/p>\n

The woman is likely referring to the Senior Citizen Concession Card<\/a>, a multi-purpose card issued to Singapore citizens aged 60 and above.<\/p>\n

The youth\u2019s speech is indistinct, but it appears he is asking the woman how old she is, which seems to get her riled up.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have to tell you my age. This is a senior\u2019s card. Go and check the website,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

The youth likely continues badgering her about her age.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do I need to tell you my age, idiot?\u201d the older woman says, sounding and looking agitated.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust shut up la, OK? You are irritating me, for goodness\u2019 sake,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

She keeps repeating to him to shut up, calling him irritating and even telling him that his apology is not accepted.<\/p>\n

It is unclear when or where the incident happened.<\/p>\n

Some netizens found elderly woman annoying, others said youth was disrespectful<\/h2>\n

The video racked up over 180,000 views and 200 comments.<\/p>\n

Many netizens found the elderly woman annoying.<\/p>\n

\u201cAuntie is the most irritating here,\u201d said one. \u201cEntitled aunties,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n

Several netizens said they could not understand why elderly commuters were always demanding a seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t understand why aunties\/seniors must insist they want that seat! It\u2019s gracious if someone offered, but if not, just wait for the next available (one). Otherwise, wait for the next train or travel during non-peak la?\u201d said an Instagram user.<\/p>\n

Another said:\u00a0\u201cMore (people) need to take a stand against these entitled old people. I have no issues if you are asking for a reserved seat, once it\u2019s a normal seat the remaining public is just as entitled to a seat as you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not everyone took the side of the youth, though, as some felt he was disrespectful.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave some respect to elderly, dude,\u201d said a netizen. \u201cThe boy talked too much and was annoying. She just wanted her own peace,\u201d another said. Yet another asked: \u201cBut what\u2019s wrong with the boy? Hahahaha.\u201d<\/p>\n

One netizen wondered why they were quarrelling since both already had their seats.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth are sitting and have a seat each. Quarrel for?\u201d asked the Instagram user.<\/p>\n

There were also those who felt that both were at fault.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust because someone is elderly doesn\u2019t mean they are entitled to behave however they please. However, seeing a young man repeatedly talking back to an elderly person is also not a good example for young children. That kind of disrespectful behaviour should not be tolerated,\u201d said one netizen.<\/p>\n

However, one netizen pointed out how ironic it was for them to continue to be in close proximity despite their disagreement: \u201cQuarrel so much but still sit next to each other because seat is too precious \ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23.\u201c<\/p>\n
