{"id":97323,"date":"2026-11-03T16:22:05","date_gmt":"2026-11-03T08:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=97323"},"modified":"2026-11-03T16:22:05","modified_gmt":"2026-11-03T08:22:05","slug":"singapore-to-push-for-stronger-action-against-haze-as-2027-asean-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=97323","title":{"rendered":"Singapore to push for stronger action against haze as 2027 ASEAN chair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>SINGAPORE: Singapore will work with other ASEAN states to strengthen the implementation of the region\u2019s transboundary haze agreement as it assumes the bloc\u2019s chairmanship in 2027, said Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu on Tuesday (Nov 3).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Responding to parliamentary questions on the ongoing haze pollution in parliament on\u00a0Tuesday, Ms Fu said some member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have indicated they will raise the transboundary haze issue at upcoming regional meetings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>\u201cSingapore will support these discussions, and share how we intend to act against companies responsible for the haze,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>As incoming ASEAN chair, Singapore will also work towards establishing a coordinating centre in Indonesia to strengthen cooperation and coordination in managing the fires and transboundary haze, said Ms Fu.
