Wah lao eh, super down today. Never expect this kind of thing will happen to me, but here I am, sitting at home at 2 PM drinking cheap kopi O while staring at the ceiling.<\/p>\n

So this morning I reached office around 8:45 AM like usual. Still happily tabao my cai fan\u2014two meat one veg, direct $6.50 gone into the drain now. The moment I scan my pass to enter, my colleague give me that kind of \u201cbro, good luck to you\u201d face. I thought he playing stupid prank, until my boss call me into the meeting room.<\/p>\n

Inside the room got my manager looking super stressed, and one HR aunty sitting there with a fake sympathy face. Before I can even sit down, the HR already hit me with all the corporate buzzwords: “Due to global macroeconomic headwinds and organizational restructuring…”<\/p>\n

Aiya, say until so chim, in the end just mean \u201cyou are fired, pack your things and clear table\u201d.<\/p>\n

Give me some miserable severance package that looks like a slap in the face. One month per year of service? Limpeh work here for almost 4 years, put in so much OT, OT until eye bag lower than my chin, and all I get is this kind of basic compensation? Some more they expect me to sign the release form on the spot. I tell them don’t play play, I\u2019ll bring it home to read properly and get back to them by end of the week.<\/p>\n

After that, the most demoralizing part: security guard literally escort me back to my desk to pack my box. Wah lan, 4 years of hard work and contribution, instantly treated like some thief. All my desk neighbors standing around looking blur, nobody dare to speak up because everyone scared they are next in line to get chopped.<\/p>\n

Honestly right now I\u2019m damn lost and bloody stressed. Everyday the cost of living in Singapore rising like mad\u2014BTO mortgage payment coming every month, transport fare increasing, GST 9%, and now zero income coming in. How to survive? Go deliver GrabFood or drive private hire is it? Even looking for new jobs now is super jiatlat, market so quiet, apply 100 places also zero reply.<\/p>\n

Any bros or sis here hit by layoff recently also? How you guys survive the mental breakdown? Right now I just feel super disappointed and sian about the whole situation. Dedicate your youth to work like a dog for company, in the end company just view you as a line item to slice off.<\/p>\n

Truly work hard work smart, in the end still kena retrenchment.<\/p>\n
