{"id":96820,"date":"2026-11-01T04:26:58","date_gmt":"2026-10-31T20:26:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=96820"},"modified":"2026-11-01T04:26:58","modified_gmt":"2026-10-31T20:26:58","slug":"haze-probe-five-singapore-registered-companies-agree-to-engage-assessors-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=96820","title":{"rendered":"Haze probe: Five Singapore-registered companies agree to engage assessors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"text-primary article-summary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013<!-- --> Five Singapore-registered companies potentially linked to regional fires that led to transboundary haze have agreed to cooperate with assessments by a specialist panel that will examine and hold such firms accountable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In a statement on <!-- -->Oct 31, the National Environment Agency (NEA)<!-- --> said it met representatives from <!-- -->Wilmar International, Golden Agri-Resources, APP Company, APP Company (China) and Indofood Agri Resources,<!-- --> which have agreed to engage assessors and cooperate in the assessment process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The statutory board added that it will be meeting a sixth company, <!-- -->Kencana Agri<!-- -->, which has expressed willingness to voluntarily engage assessors.<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"responsive-iframe-base st_visuals st_visuals-embed\" title=\"st_visuals embed\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/multimedia\/graphics\/2026\/08\/singapore-haze-widget\/index.html\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"accelerometer;falseclipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share;\" loading=\"eager\" data-testid=\"responsiveIframe\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The agency further welcomed a public statement issued by<!-- --> First Resources<!-- -->, which stated it was prepared to engage an investigation firm and a law firm to evaluate any potential connection to fires in Indonesia that contributed to transboundary haze.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cWe look forward to receiving written confirmation of its participation in the assessment process,\u201d said NEA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cThe companies\u2019 voluntary participation in the assessment process will help establish the facts, including whether the companies have any involvement in or connection with the fires in Indonesia that caused or contributed to transboundary haze affecting Singapore,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">This comes after representatives from 10 Singapore firms that were issued notices under Singapore\u2019s Transboundary Haze Pollution Act were<a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/environment\/leaders-of-firms-probed-for-haze-links-called-for-meeting-with-spore-ministers-warned-to-cooperate?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"inline font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"typography-test-id\"> summoned for a closed-door meeting on Oct 28<\/span><\/a> with <!-- -->Senior Minister K.
