{"id":96736,"date":"2026-10-31T16:47:01","date_gmt":"2026-10-31T08:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=96736"},"modified":"2026-10-31T16:47:01","modified_gmt":"2026-10-31T08:47:01","slug":"changi-road-restaurant-calls-out-diner-who-washed-hands-at-table-just-basic-consideration-for-people-around-us-singapore-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=96736","title":{"rendered":"Changi Road restaurant calls out diner who washed hands at table: &#8216;Just basic consideration for people around us&#8217;, Singapore News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A Changi Road restaurant has highlighted a case of a diner who washed his hands at the table and left a pool of water on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>In a now viral Instagram post, Deanna&#8217;s Kitchen shows the customer&#8217;s action, which took place at around 5.30pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The video has got over 6,600 likes as at Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Two diners, a man and a woman, are seen sitting facing each other in the restaurant, and the man can be seen wiping his hands with a tissue paper.<\/p>\n<p>He then opens a bottle of mineral water, splashing it over his hands and onto the floor.<\/p>\n<p>As he wipes down his cutlery and continues his meal, an observant staff member immediately mops the floor, cleaning the mess the diner had made.<\/p>\n<p>All this took place with a washbasin in the background, about less than five metres away from the diner.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"578\" width=\"325\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/player\/v1\/7702516006916328724?embed_from=webapp_share&amp;music_info=1&amp;description=1&amp;autoplay=1&amp;muted=1\" title=\"The eatery decided to call out the behaviour, saying it is just &quot;basic consideration for people around us&quot;. What do \ud83e\udef5 think about the diner's actions? #sgnews #Singapore #Hygiene #Restaurant\" allowfullscreen=\"\">\u00a0<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In their post, Deanna&#8217;s Kitchen owners Muhamad Asri Ramli and Denise Deanna Chew remind customers of the washbasin as well as the toilet in their restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, they provide hand soap and tissues.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We understand that sometimes when you&#8217;re enjoying our prawn noodles or seafood dishes, you need to use your hands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And of course, you&#8217;ll want to wash them afterwards. No problem at all! That&#8217;s exactly why we have these facilities available.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But please, don&#8217;t wash your hands at the dining table and let the water drip all over the floor,&#8221; they stated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think it&#8217;s really just basic consideration for the people around us, especially those who are working hard to keep the restaurant clean and comfortable for everyone,&#8221; the shop owners said, encouraging customers to wash their hands at the basin instead.<\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;We should all exercise some basic courtesy&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Responding to queries from AsiaOne, Asri and Denise said incidents like these are thankfully uncommon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Washing your hands at the dining table and allowing water to flow onto the floor is really not appropriate,&#8221; Asri, 48, said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It creates unnecessary work for our staff and could potentially endanger other diners.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The couple who have been operating their restaurant since 2017 added that they would like to remind customers to be more considerate when dining out.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is absolutely nothing wrong with washing your hands after a meal. It is simply about doing it at the appropriate place.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Addressing comments questioning the diner&#8217;s nationality and ethnicity, the restaurant also emphasised that they uploaded the video to share on basic dining etiquette, hygiene and consideration for others.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whether you are dining at a hawker centre, coffee shop or restaurant, I believe we should all exercise some basic courtesy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At the end of the day, our staff work hard to keep the restaurant clean and comfortable for everyone.
