SINGAPORE \u2013 Two people, including a bus driver, were taken to hospital after the driver briefly lost consciousness while driving along Airport Road on the morning of Oct 30.<\/p>\n
The police, who were alerted to the accident at about 6.55am, said the bus is believed to have skidded.<\/p>\n
Bus operator Go-Ahead Singapore said in response to media queries that the accident involved its bus service 43E, which collided with a tree.<\/p>\n
A preliminary probe indicated that the driver \u201clost consciousness while driving, resulting in the collision,\u201d it said, adding that he \u201cregained consciousness shortly afterwards\u201d.<\/p>\n
The 57-year-old male bus driver and a 65-year-old male passenger were taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for further medical attention.<\/p>\n
There were no other reported injuries at the scene, according to Go-Ahead.<\/p>\n
The operator added that it is in contact with the two taken to hospital and is cooperating with the authorities in their ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
The bus lane affected by the accident in Airport Road towards MacPherson Road was reopened at about 9.20am, and works to repair an overground box damaged in the accident are under way.<\/p>\n An overground box and a bus stop advertisement panel appear to have been severely damaged.<\/p>\n PHOTOS: SG ROAD VIGILANTE\/FACEBOOK<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n Photos of the aftermath circulating on social media show a Go-Ahead bus that has mounted a kerb near a bus stop.
