Stomper Disgusted<\/strong> was already in line at a yong tau foo stall in Ubi when something she saw ruined her appetite.<\/p>\n An employee at the stall had purportedly grabbed a serving tray from the stack meant for customers\u2019 use and placed yong tau foo<\/a> ingredients directly on it.<\/p>\n When approached by the Stomper, the employee was said to be dismissive and continued with her work.<\/p>\n According to the Stomper, the incident happened at a coffee shop in Ubi at about 1.50pm on Oct 15.<\/p>\n Upon seeing the employee pick up the tray and place food on it, the Stomper approached her but was reportedly \u201cscoffed at\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cShe said she had wiped the tray, but she hadn\u2019t, and the whole incident was witnessed by another customer,\u201d said Disgusted.<\/p>\n The other customer apparently approached the employee too and mentioned that improper food handling<\/a> could get the stall owner in trouble.<\/p>\n However, their advice fell on deaf ears as the employee continued with her work, arranging the yong tau foo ingredients on the allegedly unclean tray.<\/p>\n The employee told customers who approached her that she had cleaned the tray before using it.<\/p>\n PHOTO: STOMP<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHow disgusting and unhygienic is the food handler?\u201d remarked the Stomper. She added: \u201cI am disgusted and almost vomited. There was mild stomach upset. I will not patronise the stall again.\u201d<\/p>\n While the Stomper had patronised the stall\u2019s other outlets before, she claimed that this was her first time at the Ubi branch and her first unpleasant encounter.<\/p>\n She wondered: \u201cIs there a possibility to reassign her work so that she doesn\u2019t handle food? If the food is prepared behind closed doors, I wonder what she might do.\u201d<\/p>\n In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) stated that is looking into the matter.<\/p>\n The agency emphasised that it will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained.<\/p>\n \u201cFood safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their party by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices.<\/p>\n \u201cFood operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained,\u201d SFA said.<\/p>\n Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form<\/a>.<\/p>\n Have something to say?
