Think buying beer before 10.30pm means you can drink it until midnight? Not quite. 😅

Ang Mo Kio North Neighbourhood Police Centre has reminded the public that drinking alcohol in public places between 10.30pm and 7am is an offence under Singapore law.

First-time offenders can face fines of up to **S$1,000**, while repeat offenders may be fined up to **S$2,000** and jailed for up to three months.

The reminder sparked a discussion online, with some netizens claiming that people continue drinking at coffee shops well past the cut-off time.

One even joked about transferring beer into a water bottle, while another suggested putting the bottle in a plastic bag and bringing it home. 😂

Others questioned whether the rules were being enforced consistently, claiming that late-night drinking remained common at coffee shops around Singapore.

For the record, buying beer before 10.30pm does not mean you can continue drinking it in public after the cut-off time.

🍻 **So, have you seen people drinking at coffee shops after 10.30pm?**
