{"id":96204,"date":"2026-10-29T00:34:01","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T16:34:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=96204"},"modified":"2026-10-29T00:34:01","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T16:34:01","slug":"ocbc-overseas-qr-payments-with-alipay-travel-treat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=96204","title":{"rendered":"OCBC overseas QR payments with Alipay+ Travel Treat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">Singapore travellers using the OCBC app to pay for their overseas purchases can now enjoy more than just the convenience of cashless payments, with new discounts and rewards available at over 200 merchants across seven destinations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">OCBC today launched Alipay+ Travel Treat, becoming the first bank in Singapore to offer in-app travel rewards and vouchers for overseas QR payments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">The new feature lets customers discover, claim and redeem deals on shopping, dining and travel through the OCBC app, without downloading additional apps or signing up for separate loyalty programmes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">Better yet, customers can claim vouchers before leaving Singapore and have them automatically applied when making QR payments at participating Alipay+ merchants overseas.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-best-to-use-the-deals-and-qr-code\" class=\"_subHeading1_1k87u_111 _base_1k87u_1\">How best to use the deals and QR code<\/h2>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">The travel rewards are initially available across seven destinations popular with Singapore travellers, including China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">Customers can access deals at more than 200 merchants, including familiar names such as Shake Shack, Japanese discount chain Don Quijote, Matsuya Food, The Shilla Duty-Free and 7-Eleven convenience stores. with Alipay+, Ant International\u2019s unified wallet gateway, which began facilitating cross-border payments for OCBC customers in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">Customers can already use the OCBC app to make QR payments directly from their Singapore bank accounts at participating merchants in more than 55 destinations worldwide.<\/p>\n<h2 abroad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">According to OCBC, both the number of customers using its app to scan and pay at overseas Alipay+ merchants and the value of their transactions more than doubled in the first eight months of 2026 compared with the same period last year, with the growth driven largely by spending in popular destinations such as mainland China, Japan and South Korea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">OCBC hopes the introduction of travel rewards will give customers another reason to use its app when travelling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">The integration aims to make it easier for customers to find and enjoy travel perks through an app they already use, Regina Lim, OCBC\u2019s head of group card payments and personal loans, added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">The Alipay+ Super App Platform, which powers the new rewards feature, could support additional travel-related services within the OCBC app, which may eventually include ride-hailing and food delivery, allowing customers to access more everyday services abroad without switching between apps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">Such features would be particularly relevant in mainland China, where so-called super apps have become widely used for payments, transport, food delivery and other daily activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">However, OCBC has not announced a timeline for introducing these additional services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">For Singapore travellers, the immediate benefit is straightforward: more deals to discover, fewer apps to juggle and an easier way to save when paying overseas.
