You may recall the launch of the Toyota bZ4X<\/b> in Singapore earlier this year \u2013 it\u2019s the company\u2019s first electric SUV, and a facelifted version only saw a wider commercial release in February 2026 despite being part of a car-sharing programme for longer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Eight months on, Toyota is launching a more powerful version of the SUV in Singapore. Called the bZ4X Touring<\/b>, Toyota has focused on beefing up the standard version\u2019s off-road capabilities, which is why you\u2019ll find an all-wheel drive (AWD) <\/b>drivetrain on the Touring \u2013 the standard bZ4X only has front-wheel drive.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s complemented by Dual Function X-Mode<\/b>, which optimises traction for different kinds of surfaces such as mud, snow and dirt. If X-Mode sounds familiar, that\u2019s because it\u2019s a more prominent feature on Subaru cars, which Toyota has co-opted for the bZ4X lineup.\u00a0<\/p>\n The bZ4X Touring features an AWD drivetrain and Dual Function X-Mode to boost its off-road capabilities.<\/p>\n Image: Toyota<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n The Touring\u2019s off-roading credentials may interest those travelling to more remote places in the region, but it probably won\u2019t be relevant to buyers planning to drive it only in Singapore.<\/p>\n The other powertrain improvements Toyota has made, however, will likely appeal to most. The addition of a rear synchronous motor means that the bZ4X Touring produces 280kW (375hp)<\/b>, enabling it to get from a standstill to 100km\/h in just 4.4 seconds<\/b>. Top speed is 180km\/h.<\/p>\n The infotainment display is 14 inches and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.<\/p>\n Photo: Toyota<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n A large glass roof gives the cabin an airy feel.<\/p>\n Photo: Toyota<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n This also means that the Toyota bZ4X Touring is a Cat B COE vehicle.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, despite the slight increase in battery capacity to 74.7 kWh<\/b>, range has actually\u00a0decreased to 443km <\/b>because of the increased power consumption elsewhere in the car. The charging situation is unchanged, with the bZ4X Touring supporting 150kW DC charging<\/b> that can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n Toyota also noted that the battery is of a lithium-ion type, though it didn\u2019t specifically state whether it uses LFP or NMC. In any case, Toyota\u2019s support page for the bZ4X states that you can fill the battery up to 100% on AC chargers no problem. It supports up to 22kW AC charging.<\/p>\n The bZ4X Touring features roof rails that can support an 80kg load while moving and up to 317kg while stationary.<\/p>\n Image: Toyota<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n The interior of the bZ4X Touring has also been given some new perks. Since the car is about 140mm longer than the standard bZ4X, it should be roomier inside. Boot space has been increased by 22%, offering 550 litres of storage <\/b>with the rear seats installed.
