PayLah! also removes other payment pain points through automatic currency conversion and saves you from downloading yet another mobile app.

This simple guide is designed to help you with that. We looked at what DBS has shared publicly to find out how it works, which QR codes are compatible (and when), and how it actually works.

What do I need to do with the DBS Paylah! app?

<img decoding="async" class="_base_1sb7q_1" alt="How to use DBS PayLah! A PayLah! user needs a DBS or POSB bank account for the payment method to work. As an added precaution, check for an app update before you travel to Taiwan, not after.

When paying for food or shopping, find the merchant’s QR code in the store, open your app’s QR code scanner, scan it, and wait for the confirmation screen to appear.

Like regular PayLah!, some merchants will already have the transaction amount keyed in for you. Other shops may need you to type it in yourself. Either way, be careful and check the number of zeroes.

The only difference is that the app also shows both the local currency and the exchange rate in Singapore Dollars (SGD), since Taiwan uses New Taiwan Dollars (NTD). It uses DBS’s exchange rate, and the exchange happens only once (NTD to SGD). The final deduction is calculated in SGD.

Users who already use PayLah! In Malaysia (DuitNow), Thailand (PromptPay), and China (UnionPay) would find the process similar across these cross-border platforms.

Which Taiwan QR payment codes work?

<img decoding="async" class="_base_1sb7q_1" alt="How to use DBS PayLah! To simplify that, it has an all-encompassing QR payment label that is similar to Singapore’s.

Our side of the pond uses an almost-pau-kah-liáu (Hokkien for nearly all-inclusive) SGQR+ label here; Taiwan also has TWQR, which stands for Taiwan QR Code. According to DBS, it covers over 250,000 of them, and PayLah! works across the entire TWQR network.

Come 2027, more participants will enter the larger TWQR network, which means that Taiwanese merchant compatibility with PayLah! would be added over time.

The image above illustrates both currently available QR codes and those that will be added later. You can refer to the image to familiarise yourself with how these QR codes should look like.

At the time of writing this guide, PayLah! works with iPASS MONEY, Taiwan Pay, Easy Wallet, and PXPay Plus. Later, it would include JKOPAY, PlusPay, and icash Pay.

Additionally, the DBS digibank app (not PayLah!) would be compatible with TWQR labels come 2027.

Why did this happen? Any perks?

According to DBS, this cross-border, unsecured payment initiative started in April 2026 with a joint collaboration between NETS (Singapore) and FISC (Taiwan). Like NETS and SGQR+, FISC developed the TWQR network.

Separately, Taiwan’s Ministry of the Interior (its version of a Ministry of Home Affairs that also handles security) said that Singapore ranks among the top 10 in visitor arrivals in 2025.

DBS also sweetened this new feature with a tiny promotional launch. From 16 November to 31 January 2027, DBS will offer cashback (capped at S$3 with no minimum spend) to customers new to PayLah!’s overseas QR payment service. It doesn’t have to be Taiwan’s; it also applies to compatible QR payments in Malaysia, Thailand, or Indonesia, just in time for the December holiday period.

DBS PayLah! official app download:

Article Jump List 1.
