KUALA LUMPUR \u2014 Fares for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link are expected to be announced by the end of this year, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The announcement will be made ahead of the service\u2019s planned opening in February next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe announcement would be made jointly with RTS Operations (RTSO), as the project was a bilateral initiative between Malaysia and Singapore.<\/p>\n
\u201cI cannot make any unilateral announcement because it is a bilateral project,\u201d Loke told a press conference at the Transport Exhibition (TXA) here today.<\/p>\n
He said the fare announcement would be made before the service begins operating to give the public sufficient time to familiarise themselves with the ticket prices.<\/p>\n
In a joint statement made on Oct 2, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore and the Malaysian Transport Ministry said they had been informed by RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO) of the revised timeline.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The service was previously expected to commence in January. The new target is subject to RTSO obtaining independent safety certification for the RTS Link and securing final regulatory approvals.<\/p>\n
