As we get closer to the end of the year, it\u2019s time to start scouting for appropriately impressive holiday gifts for your loved ones. For the 1% of the audiophiles among us, Sony has announced three new premium Walkman digital music players: the flagship NW-WM1ZM3<\/b>, the NW-WM1AM3, <\/b>and the NW-ZX900<\/b>.<\/p>\n

All three are slated to arrive in Singapore from November 2026<\/b>, and best of all, pre-orders will come with discounts of up to S$1,000 plus a free pair of Sony IER-M500 in-ear monitors.<\/p>\n

Copper, gold and bigger capacitors<\/h2>\n

Most of the upgrades Sony is bringing to the table comes from the materials and circuitry used. For example, the flagship NW-WM1ZM3<\/b> is built around a precision-machined, gold-plated chassis made from 99.99% pure (4N) oxygen-free copper (OFC), with an OFC rear chassis and gold-plated, low-resistance screws used only on this model.<\/p>\n

Sony says the copper chassis gives a stable ground connection for stronger bass, a wider soundstage and smoother highs. It also uses thick Kimber Kable internal wiring carried over from Sony\u2019s DMP-Z1 desktop music player.<\/p>\n

In comparison, the NW-WM1AM3<\/b> and NW-ZX900<\/b> pair an aluminium-alloy main chassis with a gold-plated OFC rear chassis.<\/p>\n

Inside, both WM1 models now come with a pair of large solid high-polymer capacitors with hand-soldered OFC wiring, for cleaner and more stable power. They also get a larger 4N copper coil in the filter that cleans up the amplifier\u2019s balanced output, and an OFC block over the digital section that Sony says is about 34% heavier than on the previous model, to cut down on noise further.<\/p>\n

The NW-ZX900<\/b> borrows parts from the higher-end models too, including an ultra-low-noise LDO regulator and the same crystal oscillators.<\/p>\n

Bigger screens and long battery life<\/h2>\n

The two WM1 models get larger 5.5-inch<\/b> screens, while the NW-ZX900 comes with a slightly smaller 5-inch<\/b> display. Sony says the Walkman home screens can be customised, with album art now appearing larger and sharper.<\/p>\n

Users who are out and about often will appreciate battery life rated at up to 35 hours<\/b> of MP3 playback on the WM1 models, with streaming battery life improved to up to 31 hours. The NW-ZX900 goes a little further, featuring up to 40 hours<\/b> of MP3 playback or up to 35 hours with streaming apps. Of course, your mileage may vary depending on your playback habits and preferences.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a nod towards sustainability, Sony has also dropped plastic from the packaging for all three models.<\/p>\n
