As someone who lived in London in the late 2000s, when Asian food was not as popular, accessible or unburdened by tradition as it is now, Wagamama was one of the early options for a little taste of Japan.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1992 by Hong Kong-born British restaurateur Alan Yau Tak-wai, the Tokyo ramen bar-inspired restaurant quickly ballooned into a nationwide chain \u2013 despite the liberties it would take with flavour.<\/p>\n

I had forgotten about this brand until recently, when a little storm in a teacup began to brew, involving popular lifestyle platform London On the Inside (Loti). The publication had a niggling suspicion that a rival media title had long been pilfering off their independent research on new restaurant openings and set into motion a honey trap to catch the thieves red-handed.<\/p>\n

In their September 24 article on the imminent opening of new Chinese noodle bar Cai Lin Ji \u2013 a historic brand founded in Wuhan, China \u2013 on Oxford Street, in central London, the publication included a fabricated detail. At the end of the story, they added the line \u201crumour has it, we could see a fish and chips inspired noodle dish on its menu \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
