Some 50 people were evacuated after a fire broke out in a sixth-floor HDB flat in Woodlands on Sunday (Oct 11) night.

The incident took place at Block 514 Woodlands Drive 14 at about 9.40pm. According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the fire involved the contents of a bedroom in the unit.

MP Hany Soh (Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC) wrote in a social media post on Monday (Oct 12) that the fire was spotted by a grassroots leader, who then alerted the SCDF.

In response to AsiaOne’s queries, SCDF said its firefighters extinguished the fire using a compressed air foam trolley, adding that there were no reported injuries.

The police and SCDF officers evacuated about 50 people from the affected block during firefighting operations as a precautionary measure.
