A man said he is now \u201cscared of going on dates\u201d after a woman ordered a $741 meal on their first date, let him foot the bill, and requested that he book a $42 Grab ride home for her.<\/p>\n
On Oct 12, Reddit user @vagli shared the experience in a post<\/a> on the Singapore speaks subreddit, claiming that he had met the woman on a dating app and decided to go on a date at a restaurant of her choice.<\/p>\n She opted for Imperial Treasure Fine Teochew Cuisine, a one-Michelin-star Chinese restaurant located at ION Orchard.<\/p>\n On the day of the date<\/a>, he booked a private-hire car and stopped by her workplace to pick her up at her request.<\/p>\n At the restaurant, she apparently handed him her bags and asked him to carry them. The woman also ordered food for both of them, choosing dishes he described as \u201cexpensive things\u201d:<\/p>\n As it was his first time at the restaurant, vagli was unfamiliar with the prices and went along with her choices.<\/p>\n The bill amounted to $741, which the man paid for.<\/p>\n She then requested a Grab ride home, which cost $42 as her destination was \u201cvery far\u201d from the restaurant.<\/p>\n Despite it being the \u201cmost expensive first date ever\u201d for him, he said it \u201cstill didn\u2019t feel bad\u201d and wrote it off as her \u201cenjoy(ing) expensive stuff\u201d.<\/p>\n For their next date, vagli suggested watching a movie. However, the woman suggested watching it at what he described as the \u201cmost expensive cinema hall\u201d and even requested a Grab<\/a> ride from her home.<\/p>\n The pair agreed on a date, but vagli fell sick two days before and asked to reschedule.<\/p>\n She stopped replying after that, he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAt what point in this story did I become a simp who just listens to everything she says?\u201d he asks.<\/p>\n In the comments section, he added that he is now \u201cscared of going on dates\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t know how to say no when she asked. It was so awkward.
