Authorities must also establish that an entity caused or contributed to haze pollution in Singapore.

Companies found guilty of causing or contributing to transboundary haze pollution can be fined up to S$100,000 (US$78,100) a day, capped at S$2 million.

The law applies to entities operating both within and outside Singapore, including those that condone activities resulting in haze pollution here.

It also empowers authorities to issue preventive measures notices requiring companies to take steps to prevent, reduce or control haze pollution.

Individuals and businesses in Singapore can also pursue civil claims against responsible entities for personal injury, property damage or economic losses arising from haze pollution.

SINGAPORE: The National Environment Agency (NEA) said on Monday (Oct 12) that it is “closely monitoring” the haze situation and gathering information on fire hotspots,…

https://dam.mediacorp.sg/image/upload/s--rcyViFc0--/c_crop,h_911,w_1620,x_0,y_1/c_fill,g_auto,h_676,w_1200/fl_relative,g_south_east,l_mediacorp:cna:watermark:2021-08:cna,w_0.1/f_auto,q_auto/v1/mediacorp/cna/image/2026/10/12/119519.jpg?itok=6KYkQ7Lr
[2
7477,3610,4573,19324,19323,2657,8939,5274,11668,11261,31523
post-92358","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-buzz-news-sg-global","tag-act","tag-continue","tag-earlier","tag-haze","tag-hotspots","tag-investigations","tag-nea","tag-pollution","tag-sources","tag-tracking","tag-transboundary","wpcat-2-id
["GET
