A 51-year-old male cyclist died after an accident in Boon Lay that led to the arrest of a 72-year-old male car driver.<\/p>\n
The accident happened at about 6.40am on Friday (Oct 9) along Boon Lay Way towards Commonwealth Avenue West.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 72-year-old was later arrested for driving without due care and attention causing death.<\/p>\n
A picture of the aftermath seen by AsiaOne shows a bicycle with its front wheel visibly dented laid against the road divider fencing.<\/p>\n
A white sports utility vehicle (SUV) is seen stopped in the rightmost lane near the bicycle.<\/p>\n
Debris and marks are also seen on the road behind the SUV.<\/p>\n
In response to AsiaOne’s queries, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force stated that the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The arrested male car driver is now assisting with ongoing police investigations.<\/p>\n
