It’s already out, too, and it has a free demo if you’d like to try it first.

Signal Veil

GameSpot contributor Ashley Bardhan spotted this one recently, and I have to concur; it looks really cool. In Human.exe, you’ll take an AI through ethical dilemmas, coding its worldview in major ways. That’ll end well.

Sparrow

The pitch for Sparrow is so incredibly simple; it’s a horror game in which you play as a bird seeking her lost babies. I’ve never played anything like that, and now I’m wondering why no one seemed to make it sooner.

Solace Creek

Indie horror is full of PSX-style experiences, so I try not to focus on too many of those in each roundup like this, but Solace Creek makes the cut because its dream-like trailer captures an ideal blend of eerie and oddly comforting for me.

Mayfly

Waking on a boat in England, Mayfly throws you into a shifting reality where you’ll search for your missing husband, because nothing is more ready-to-serve in horror than a disappeared spouse.

Echograph

It was just this year that I finally got my act together and experienced the greatness of Fatal Frame, so it’s cool to see a game like Echograph coming out. It’s clearly inspired by the series and even uses similar gameplay where you “shoot” ghosts with a camera.

Shutter Story

Shutter Story is actually the second upcoming game I’ve heard of in which you examine photos for signs of the paranormal, though the other seems to have disappeared from Steam. That’s odd, but at least we still have Shutter Story. To me, this concept is so ripe for a horror game, reflecting the best parts of the surprisingly great Ethan Hawke movie Sinister.

Dead of Darkness 2

Though I like the intentions of Dead of Darkness 2, it’s a little annoying to see it exists, because I still haven’t gotten around to the first one. Maybe it’s time to catch up on the series before this sequel and its charming, retro-style anime cutscenes arrive.

That does it for this edition of the Horror Game Awards showcase roundup.
