chiong<\/em>, so I think in those one to two years, honestly I wasn’t like living my life, I was just like a money-making machine,\u201d she recounted.<\/p>\nShe revealed that her family circumstances were what ultimately pushed her to leave home relatively young.<\/p>\n
Yiting didn’t elaborate on what those circumstances were but said:\u00a0“I was given an ultimatum to either like stay at home and accept the family situation as it was, or just move out and live my own life. So I chose the latter.\u201d<\/p>\n
And after working so hard to get her own place, you’d think Yiting would at least claim the master bedroom for herself.<\/p>\n
Instead, she rented it out and took the smaller common room, where her single bed sits on a loft above her wardrobe and work area.<\/p>\n
“I think it’s more practical, because technically if you rent out the master room with the en-suite, your rental income is higher,” Yiting explained.<\/p>\n
“I take the common room, pay off all the mortgage and everything. Yeah, it covers a bulk of it actually!” she added.<\/p>\n
Her master bedroom is occupied by her hairstylist and his wife, who happens to be\u00a0Yiting’s manager.<\/p>\n
There is, however, one obvious downside to surrendering the master bedroom.<\/p>\n
Yiting’s own sleeping area is what we would call\u2026 cosy.<\/p>\n
“Everything in my house is built for like a single person and it was built with like just me in mind,” she admitted.<\/p>\n
Her loft currently has a single bed, prompting host Amy Ang to ask: What happens if she gets a boyfriend?<\/p>\n
“Both of us have to squeeze here, no choice,\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n
She may have spent S$100K on her renovation, but Yiting clearly knows how to source for a bargain.<\/p>\n
When Yiting looked for a\u00a0chandelier in Singapore, she was quoted around S$6K, but eventually found one in Johor Bahru for only S$500\u00a0(“I’m not paying S$6K for a chandelier\u201d).<\/p>\n
Yiting also shared that she many of the things in her home were sourced either from Taobao or Malaysia, and that even after accounting for costs such as GST and delivery, it was cheaper than buying locally.<\/p>\n
Despite already having her own place, Yiting apparently isn’t done with property goals yet.<\/p>\n
Asked if this is her forever home, she revealed that she’s already thinking bigger.<\/p>\n
“I want to get a penthouse by 30 years old, that’s my goal! I got four years!” she exclaimed.<\/p>\n
And if that penthouse dream comes true, we hope she keeps the master bedroom this time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
