{"id":91042,"date":"2026-10-07T20:06:02","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T12:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=91042"},"modified":"2026-10-07T20:06:02","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T12:06:02","slug":"49-schools-in-singapore-to-get-new-principals-in-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=91042","title":{"rendered":"49 schools in Singapore to get new principals in 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"text-primary article-summary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013<!-- --> Forty-nine schools will have new principals in 2027<!-- --> <!-- -->in an annual reshuffle, including 13 educators taking on the role<!-- --> <!-- -->for the first time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Seven of the 49 appointees<!-- -->\u2019 current or last held roles are in<!-- --> the Ministry of Education (MOE) headquarters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The appointments, announced by MOE<!-- --> <!-- -->on Oct 7, affect<!-- --> <!-- -->one junior college, 15 secondary schools and 33 primary schools.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The ministry will formally appoint the principals at its annual appointment and appreciation ceremony for principals on Dec 30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Nanyang Junior College is the only junior college getting a new principal. Shawn Lim Chee Koon, who is now principal of St Gabriel\u2019s Secondary School, will take over the helm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Among the six first-time principals appointed to secondary schools are Timothy Tay Soon Inn, now vice-principal of Presbyterian High School, who will head Anderson Secondary School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The other first-time principals will head CHIJ Katong Convent, CHIJ St Theresa\u2019s Convent, East Spring Secondary School, Seng Kang Secondary School and Yishun Secondary School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Seven first-time principals will take charge of primary schools. They will be posted to Bedok Green, Fuhua, Gan Eng Seng, Jiemin, Lianhua, Palm View and Si Ling primary schools.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Several experienced school leaders and MOE headquarters officers will also<!-- --> <!-- -->take up new appointments as principals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">One first-time appointee, Patricia Lim Wai Ping, <!-- -->most recently <!-- -->a deputy director at the MOE\u2019s Communications &amp; Engagement Group, will take the helm at Lianhua Primary School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Sharma Poonam Kumari, now a cluster superintendent in MOE\u2019s Schools Division, will head NorthLight School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Tan Siew Woon, a senior teaching fellow with<!-- --> the National<!-- --> Institute of Education,<!-- --> will head Manjusri Secondary School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Tao Nan School will be headed by Loh Wee Cheng, now a divisional director of the MOE\u2019s Student Development Curriculum. She has also held roles at SkillsFuture Singapore and the former Workforce Development Agency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Chang<!-- --> hopes to build resilience and adaptability in students for an uncertain world. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to predict what the future will be like for them. I want to set them up to grapple with that, and embrace the challenge,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Chang also wants to build a supportive school community,<span class=\"dateline\"> <\/span>where the girls feel safe opening up to their teachers and parents. \u201cI want to know them deeply, and let them know they are seen and loved<!-- -->.
