A GrabFood rider<\/a> was left baffled after receiving an unusual GrabExpress request \u2014 to take a customer\u2019s rubbish downstairs for disposal.<\/p>\n The anonymous rider shared his experience on the Complaint Singapore<\/a> Facebook page on Sept 25, along with screenshots of the job.<\/p>\n The request read: \u201cRemove(throw) all the bags at doorstep to downstairs rubbish chute for disposal.\u201d<\/p>\n The rider said he was shocked that such a task could be assigned to him, especially as he primarily delivers food.<\/p>\n \u201cGrab is too much. Allocate me a job to dispose rubbish for the customer whereby I\u2019m a food delivery rider. Is this can be allowed [sic]?<\/p>\n He said he considered cancelling the job at Joo Seng Road but added that doing so would affect his ratings, so he reluctantly completed it instead. The job cost $4.<\/p>\n Photos he shared show four bulky rubbish bags<\/a> outside the customer\u2019s unit. Another image shows the bags beside a bin downstairs, followed by a photo indicating that the job had been completed.<\/p>\n The rider showed he also tried messaging the customer to clarify the request but did not receive a response.<\/p>\n PHOTO: CURIOUSRADISH6718\/FACEBOOK<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n \u201cStupid sia this Grab!\u201d he added in his post.<\/p>\n It is unclear what was inside the bags.<\/p>\n In response to Stomp\u2019s queries, Grab reminded users that GrabExpress<\/a> is a courier service meant for transporting documents, parcels, and personal or retail goods.<\/p>\n Waste management usually requires specific safety protocols, handling procedures, and licences that fall outside the scope of our courier service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Grab added that delivery partners may decline non-compliant requests without penalty, while users and riders can report misuse through the in-app Help Centre for investigation.<\/p>\n \u201cWe kindly request our users to use Grab services strictly for their intended purposes,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n In its website, Grab also advises delivery partners to check the service type<\/a> and other job details before accepting a request.<\/p>\n Editor\u2019s note: This story was amended to include Grab\u2019s response.<\/em><\/p>\n Have something to say?
