PETALING JAYA: The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link service is expected to commence in February 2027, says the Transport Ministry.<\/p>\n
In a joint statement, the Malaysian Transport Ministry and the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) noted that both grantors have been informed on this by the RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO).<\/p>\n
“The revised timeline remains subject to RTSO obtaining independent safety certification for the RTS Link and securing final regulatory approvals,” it said in a statement on Friday (Oct 2).<\/p>\n
However, infrastructure works in both Singapore and Malaysia are substantially complete and remain on track to support passenger service upon the satisfactory completion of the remaining testing and commissioning activities.<\/p>\n
“RTSO is also expecting to complete its final system tests and trial runs by Dec 31 and will need to obtain safety certification from an independent safety assessor.<\/p>\n
The ministries also noted that regulatory approvals to commence passenger operations can be granted after authorities from both countries have reviewed and satisfied themselves with the independent safety certification.<\/p>\n
“We will continue to work with RTSO to ensure the project’s smooth and safe delivery.<\/p>\n
“RTSO has also committed to completing the remaining works expeditiously and safely and to working closely with the grantors on the operationalisation of the RTS Link,” read the statement.<\/p>\n
