The film takes its name from the protagonist\u2019s chosen alias \u2013 a literary allusion that may enlighten and confuse audiences in equal measure.<\/p>\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\">It references Cyclone Mei, a fabled villainess from <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Louis Cha Leung-yung<\/span>\u2019s wuxia epic <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\"><em data-qa=\"ContentSchemaRender-defaultRenderMapFunctions-Component\" class=\"css-1mniedq ex3nmsa15\">The Legend of the Condor Heroes<\/em><\/span>. Forged by a tragic childhood into a ruthless killer, she is the rebellious idol whom our protagonist has aspired to become since she was a young, feminine boy.<\/div>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The titular sex worker of <em data-qa=\"ContentSchemaRender-defaultRenderMapFunctions-Component\" class=\"css-1mniedq ex3nmsa15\">Cyclone<\/em> \u2013 played with great courage in a layered turn by Chinese actress Liu Yuqiao \u2013 is introduced via a nasty nocturnal transaction in a phone booth before the opening title card.
