Just weeks after taking the helm at Apple, John Ternus is reportedly pushing to restructure the company to make it leaner<\/b>, more experimental<\/b>, and more focused on engineering<\/b>.<\/p>\n
According to Bloomberg, Ternus wants Apple to \u201cbroaden its range of devices and create a leaner organisation with a greater focus on engineering\u201d.<\/p>\n
One of the more significant changes being considered is a faster product development<\/b> and launch cycle<\/b>. Instead of concentrating major releases around its traditional spring and autumn schedule, Apple could introduce new products more frequently throughout the year.<\/b><\/p>\n
Sources told Bloomberg that the new pace is already more \u201chectic\u201d<\/b>, requiring employees to take a more \u201chands-on\u201d<\/b> approach to product development.<\/p>\n
Ternus is also exploring ways to generate more revenue from existing products<\/b>, while pursuing new services to offset slowing growth in Apple\u2019s services business.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Ternus reportedly wants Apple to become \u201cmore experimental\u201d as it attempts to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving AI industry.<\/p>\n
Bloomberg reports that Ternus is considering eliminating middle-management positions, slowing the hiring of new employees and placing greater expectations on Apple\u2019s existing engineering workforce.<\/p>\n
Some of those changes may already be underway. Bloomberg claims that several directors and engineering programme managers have been dismissed in recent weeks<\/b>, while others were reportedly given a limited period to find alternative roles within Apple.<\/p>\n
Ternus officially took over as Apple\u2019s CEO from Tim Cook on 1 September, after previously serving as the company\u2019s senior vice president of hardware engineering.<\/p>\n
He is widely regarded as a key figure behind several recent hardware refreshes, including the iPad Pro<\/b>, <\/b>iPhone 17 series<\/b>, and <\/b>MacBook Pro<\/b>.<\/p>\n
