{"id":88820,"date":"2026-09-29T16:00:02","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T08:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=88820"},"modified":"2026-09-29T16:00:02","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T08:00:02","slug":"39-arrested-in-singapore-over-suspected-telegram-drug-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=88820","title":{"rendered":"39 arrested in Singapore over suspected Telegram drug activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"text-primary article-summary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013<!-- --> Thirty-nine suspected drug offenders were arrested in enforcement operations on <!-- -->Sept 15<!-- --> after the <!-- -->Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB<!-- -->) detected drug-related activities on multiple Telegram channels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Preliminary investigations found that <!-- -->19 of those arrested<!-- --> were linked to the same drug trafficking network, CNB said in a statement on <!-- -->Sept 29<!-- -->.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">About half of the <!-- -->39 arrested are below 30 years old.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The drugs seized included <!-- -->cannabis, methamphetamine\u00a0(Ice) and Ecstasy<!-- -->. Drug paraphernalia was also seized.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Investigations are ongoing, said CNB.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The agency said it remains concerned about the exposure of young people to misinformation about drugs and pro-drug content online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">It added that it will continue to work with the police to issue directions under the Online Criminal Harms Act to restrict people in Singapore from accessing Telegram accounts and channels linked to drug activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cParents and trusted adults can safeguard youths against pro-drug content by guiding them to question misleading online narratives and understand the harms of drug abuse,\u201d CNB added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Director of CNB\u2019s intelligence division Ng Khai Song said: \u201cDrug traffickers should be under no illusion that online platforms will shield them from enforcement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cEvery online interaction leaves a trail.
