Safety cones used to reserve parking space on a public road?<\/p>\n

That’s a common occurrence<\/a><\/span> in private estates<\/a><\/span> where home owners would use various objects<\/a><\/span> to “chope<\/a><\/span>” parking spaces on public roads close to their home.<\/p>\n

But the photos of the three cones shared by Stomper Sgsoho<\/b><\/span> on Oct 22 were taken at Tagore Industrial Avenue.<\/p>\n

As you may be able to tell from the name of the road, Tagore Industrial Avenue is in an industrial estate.<\/p>\n

The Stomper wondered: “Is such ‘choping’ practice allowed?<\/p>\n

“It looks like it has become a private parking lot exclusive to a company there.”<\/p>\n

To answer the Stomper’s question, no, it is not allowed.<\/p>\n

Under the Parking Places Rules<\/a><\/span>, no person shall obstruct or cause any obstruction to a parking place or any parking lot with any vehicle, material or object.<\/p>\n

An offender faces a composition fine of up to $400. In serious cases, the offender may be charged in court, which can impose a fine of up to $2,000 or a term of imprisonment of up to three months, or both.<\/p>\n

Update:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Netizens have suggested that the safety cones were placed there because of roadworks.<\/p>\n
