Singaporeans are no strangers to using MediSave to offset hospital bills, but even with it, healthcare costs can still add up quickly. For those who don\u2019t mind crossing the Causeway for treatment, there\u2019s actually a way to use your MediSave in JB<\/b> too.<\/p>\n

Regency Specialist Hospital<\/b> is the only hospital in JB currently that allows the usage of MediSave for eligible medical treatments. Before you start booking a hospital appointment, here\u2019s what you need to know about the scheme and how to get started.<\/p>\n\n

What is Regency Specialist Hospital?<\/b><\/h3>\n\n

The private hospital is located around a 15- to 30-minute drive from the JB checkpoint, depending on traffic. It has more than 100 specialists <\/b>across various medical fields and sees around 230,000 patients annually<\/b>. Regency Specialist Hospital also treats around 150 to 200 international patients each day<\/b>, according to CNA<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the part that\u2019s probably most relevant to Singaporeans: it\u2019s currently the only hospital in JB where MediSave can be used<\/b> for eligible medical expenses. In fact, it has been on Singapore\u2019s Ministry of Health (MOH) list of approved overseas hospitals for MediSave claims since March 2010.<\/p>\n\n

Why do some Singaporeans consider going to JB for medical treatments?<\/b><\/h3>\n\n

For some Singaporeans, heading to JB for medical treatment is an appealing option as the favourable exchange rate <\/b>can potentially make certain treatments more affordable, while JB\u2019s proximity to SG<\/b> means you don\u2019t have to travel far from home.<\/p>\n

And getting there could become even more convenient once the RTS Link<\/a> starts operations, making the trip across the border less of a hassle.<\/p>\n
