A 57-year-old woman was jailed 10 months and fined $47,000 on Oct 31 for living on the earnings of two prostitutes and obstructing justice.<\/p>\n
Between August 2023 and March 2025, Liu Zhengxiang ran a massage parlour called 168 Slimming Centre<\/a><\/span> on the ground floor of an apartment building called The Midtown at Upper Serangoon Road, reported Shin Min Daily News<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n The Singaporean also rented a two-bedroom unit on the same building, which she used as a brothel, and earned commissions amounting to at least $35,000 from two foreign prostitutes. One was Thai while the other was a Singapore permanent resident from China. Both are 41 years old.<\/p>\n The Thai woman came to Singapore to work as a prostitute in October 2024.<\/p>\n To get “clients”, Liu took photos of the Thai woman and used them to advertise her sexual services online. Liu received a monthly $350 fee and was responsible for scheduling clients. It was also agreed that she would take a 60 per cent commission.<\/p>\n From Oct 10, 2024, to Feb 11, 2025, Liu made at least $30,000 from the Thai woman.<\/p>\n The other woman, who was from China, had been working at the massage parlour since November 2024. After starting work, she discovered that some of the massage therapists offered sexual services and asked Liu about it.<\/p>\n Liu told her that she could earn more if she was willing to take clients. After the woman agreed, Liu took her photos and advertised her services online.<\/p>\n Liu made at least $5,000 from the second woman.<\/p>\n Court documents said that the massage parlour was prohibited from allowing customers to receive massage services in private cubicles, but the massage beds at 168 Slimming Centre were each separated by curtains.<\/p>\n The massage parlour was raided by the police in February.<\/p>\n Liu was also charged with obstructing justice by throwing away two mobile phones used to liaise with the clients of the prostitutes.<\/p>\n In her plea for leniency, the Liu expressed remorse for her crimes and assured the judge that she would not repeat them.<\/p>\n The judge granted her request for a one-month deferment of her sentence to allow her to settle matters concerning the massage parlour and the employees.<\/p>\n Liu will start her jail term on Dec 1.<\/p>\n Join the conversation<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
