Apple could be exploring a very different kind of fitness tracker: one with no screen<\/b>.<\/p>\n
According to Bloomberg, Apple has been \u201cexploring\u201d the product category for several months and has already developed prototypes.<\/p>\n
The prototypes are reportedly similar to Whoop\u2019s fitness trackers<\/b>, which use a simple fabric wristband attached to a small computing module packed with sensors.<\/p>\n
The screen-less approach would represent a notable departure from the Apple Watch, which combines health tracking with notifications, apps, calls, and other smartwatch features. By removing the display and many of those distractions, Apple could position the new wearable as a more focused fitness and health companion.<\/p>\n
Both Tim Cook and Eddy Cue have shown interest in the category, with Cue reportedly favouring wearables built around simpler interfaces<\/b>. A screen-less tracker could fit neatly into that vision by doing fewer things, but doing them continuously and quietly in the background.<\/p>\n
That is essentially the pitch behind Whoop\u2019s products. The screen-less design lets users focus on fitness and recovery instead of checking notifications or constantly interacting with another screen. Whoop has also built much of its appeal around analysing metrics such as recovery, strain, and sleep, turning raw health data into actionable insights.<\/p>\n
However, don\u2019t expect to see it on your wrist anytime soon. Word on the street is that Apple is reportedly targeting 2028 at the earliest<\/b> for a launch<\/b>, assuming the project makes it through development.<\/p>\n
