In Sooner Or Later, Chan plays car salesman Wang Hailong, who gains the ability to foresee the future in his dreams after being struck by lightning.<\/p>\n
Asked if he has his own \u201cif only I knew\u201d moment in real life, he recalled an opportunity he passed up early in his career.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I had just entered showbiz, I actually had a chance to develop my career in Hong Kong. But I didn\u2019t have the courage then,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought, \u2018Forget it, I don\u2019t even know if it\u2019s real or not.\u2019 If only I had known, I would have gone and given it a try. But I also believe everything happens for the best.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Chan says he isn\u2019t superstitious, he does check his Chinese zodiac forecast every Chinese New Year.<\/p>\n
He also revealed that he once made a vow to a deity in hopes that Jesseca Liu would win Best Actress at the Star Awards.<\/p>\n
His promise? To go vegetarian for two years\u2026 \u201cjust on the first and 15th days of the lunar month\u201d.<\/p>\n
Apparently, even he hesitated while making the vow.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I was making it, I naturally paused for two seconds before blurting out, \u2018the first and 15th\u2019,\u201d he laughed.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe deep down I felt that when it comes to sincerity, it\u2019s better not to go all-in.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since she took home the Best Actress trophy for her role in Emerald Hill \u2013 The Little Nyonya Story in April, Chan has kept his word, marking the first and 15th days of each lunar month on his calendar.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs long as I don\u2019t eat meat, it\u2019s fine,\u201d he said, adding that when he\u2019s filming outside and vegetarian options are harder to find, he simply has a salad.<\/p>\n
Sooner Or Later, which also stars Paige Chua, Guo Liang, Jernelle Oh and James Seah, is slated to air in January 2027.<\/p>\n
