More design control over its CPU allowed Qualcomm to deliver significantly higher performance gains while optimising the platform’s power efficiency. Getting to use Oryon CPUs is a Netflix-worthy drama in itself, which we won’t touch on here.

Now, “Elite Extreme” represents the components, optimisations, and tweaks on top of its Elite variant. These add-ons target both background and user-facing AI workloads, enabling better on-device AI performance, more personalised results from your phone, and more dependable outcomes from your input.

These add-ons span the AI gamut we already have today (machine-learnt, generative, and agentic). Sometimes, the results feel invisible as they affect most workloads you don’t think about (e.g., routine device operation and the phone’s search capabilities). At other times, you get a noticeable uplift through user interaction (e.g., better response generation across multiple media types like text, photos, videos, and AI-optimised performance in mobile games).

What are both Gen 6 platforms getting, then?

The “Elite Extreme” variant is represented by thicker gold borders in its official artwork.

Image: Qualcomm

Together, this 2027 generation of chipsets gets all-around upgrades across nearly every aspect and component of the chip’s platform.
