A 44-year-old South Korean was sentenced to three months’ <\/strong>jail after he <\/strong>secretly recorded his ex-girlfriend during intimate video calls without her consent.<\/p>\n He pleaded guilty to one of three charges involving the unauthorised recording of the woman and offences under the Films Act.<\/p>\n According to a report by Shin Min Daily News, he met his 45-year-old ex-girlfriend on Tinder in 2022, and they entered into a relationship.<\/p>\n When they were in different countries, they maintained their relationship through video calls.<\/p>\n During some of their video calls, they engaged in intimate conversations and activities.<\/p>\n She had repeatedly told him that she did not want to be recorded and asked him to confirm that he was not doing so.<\/p>\n He <\/strong>told her that he did not know how to record his screen.<\/p>\n But between Feb 18 and Oct 23, 2023, he secretly recorded 17 videos of her during their intimate video calls.<\/p>\n The videos ranged from about seven to 56 minutes <\/strong>long, and were stored on a hard drive at his home in Singapore.<\/p>\n The pair broke up in January 2024, after which the man began dating another woman, aged 37.<\/p>\n On Jan 6, 2024, his new girlfriend was helping him clean his home when she discovered the hard drive containing the recordings.<\/p>\n She confronted him the following day and demanded that he delete the videos.<\/p>\n He subsequently destroyed the hard drive, because he feared it could be used as evidence against him.<\/p>\n On May 15 that year, the new girlfriend left a comment on the victim’s social media account informing her about what had happened.<\/p>\n It helped in “exposing the crimes committed by the defendant”, Shin Min reported.<\/p>\n [[nid:741855]]<\/p>\n asyiqin.nadzri@asiaone.com<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n A 44-year-old South Korean was sentenced to three months’ jail after he secretly recorded his ex-girlfriend during intimate video calls without her consent.
