The episode saw Stuart Bloom and his universe-traveling companions plopped into a Gotham City come to life, with things quickly taking a turn when none other than classic Batman villain Mr. Freeze (played here by Eric Allan Kramer) shows up.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">TV show budgets aside, this is a full-on live-action take on Victor Fries that shoots killer icicles, builds giant ice walls, and even tries to kill Stuart with a giant icy bowling ball. DC fans found even more to recognize when a live-action version of Jay Garrick&#8217;s Flash (played by Andy Ridings) ran in to save the day \u2013 and deliver a few one-liners.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-theme=\"light\">\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\" lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Flash has officially appeared in live action in \u2018The Big Bang Theory\u2019 Stuart spinoff show. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UnfelkJErE\" class=\"link jsx-1337145738 jsx-3925284146 underlined\" data-cy=\"styled-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/UnfelkJErE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 DCU Brief (@DCUBrief) September 18, 2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Stuart Fails to Save the Universe packed in the references, with there even being a mention that Golden Age Flash should probably be fighting someone like Captain Cold instead of Mr. Freeze. It was enough to get tongues wagging on social media, with fans mostly just happy to see <em>any<\/em> live-action Flash for the first time since Ezra Miller played Barry Allen in 2023&#8217;s universe-ending standalone film.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;Why is the costume good???&#8221; one fan <u>said<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;The clash of the bulky mechanic Mr. Freeze and the vibrant spandex on Flash? Oh yeah, that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about,&#8221; another <u>said<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DdbtZuniWms\/embed\" height=\"710\" width=\"612\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">As much of a splash as The Flash vs. Mr. Freeze made, this specific matchup wasn&#8217;t the original plan. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe co-creator Zak Penn told <u>Deadline<\/u> that the episode&#8217;s title, &#8220;Spoiler: We Couldn&#8217;t Get Green Lantern,&#8221; was more than just a gag. You can probably guess why Hal Jordan or John Stewart didn&#8217;t show up.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;They told us we couldn\u2019t have him because of [HBO\u2019s live-action series] Lanterns, which I understood,&#8221; Penn said. &#8220;Chuck [Lorre] was a little grumbly about it, but Bill and I pointed out to him that Flash was actually perfect. If we needed something that\u2019s going from dimension to dimension, Flash worked even better than Green Lantern.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Lanterns, of course, is very much still on the air, so bringing any of its characters \u2013 and even potentially its actors \u2013 could have been pretty confusing.
