Is walking into other people’s homes while they’re undergoing renovation becoming a thing now?<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, footage of people allegedly entering a Woodlands HDB flat under renovation without permission made the rounds online, with some even seen walking around and taking photos.<\/p>\n
Now, Class 95 radio producer Lee Yoo Jin has shared a similar encounter at her own new home.<\/p>\n
Yoo Jin was alone filming content inside the flat, which is currently undergoing renovation, when she heard someone trying to open her front door.<\/p>\n
According to Yoo Jin, the person outside appeared to be struggling with the unlocked door.<\/p>\n
Which is unsettling enough. Even more so when you’re alone inside.<\/p>\n
When Yoo Jin went over to check, she found a man standing outside.<\/p>\n
“Excuse me!” Jin can be heard saying in her Instagram Reel.<\/p>\n
The man immediately apologised and tried to explain himself.<\/p>\n
Yoo Jin wasn’t having it, replying: “Yeah, no, that’s still not right,”<\/p>\n
According to text Yoo Jin added to the video, the man apparently said he was curious because several homes nearby were undergoing renovation.<\/p>\n
Umm… Since when did \u201cunder renovation\u201d mean \u201copen house\u201d?<\/p>\n
Yoo Jin questioned him about it too.<\/p>\n
“No, I feel like that is still not right. You shouldn’t try to enter homes that are still renovating, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
“Like, do you go around opening people’s homes like that?” she asked.<\/p>\n
As it turns out, the man was apparently a guest of Yoo Jin’s neighbour, who was holding a housewarming at the time.<\/p>\n
Yoo Jin described her neighbour as friendly and said he even invited her over to join them.<\/p>\n
Her neighbour also apologised on his guest’s behalf, which Yoo Jin admitted made her feel bad because he’d been so nice about the situation.<\/p>\n
Her takeaway from the whole encounter was considerably simpler: “Anyway, lock your homes y’all!”<\/p>\n
When contacted by 8days.sg, Yoo Jin declined to comment further on the incident.<\/p>\n
However, Yoo Jin’s followers noticed the d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu too.<\/p>\n
“What’s with all these people entering people’s house that are under renovation? How kaypoh and entitled must you be to do that?” wrote one.<\/p>\n
Another praised Yoo Jin for confronting the man, commenting, “Wtheck!!! Props to u for confronting him\u2026 I’m glad you are safe.”<\/p>\n
One commenter also claimed they’d experienced something similar involving a couple who said they were property agents.<\/p>\n
But perhaps this is one rule that shouldn’t need explaining in the first place.<\/p>\n
