A 44-year-old man will be charged in court with vandalism on Thursday (Sept 17) after he allegedly threw a rock at a glass door at Police Cantonment Complex (PCC), shattering it.<\/p>\n
Police said in a news release on Wednesday (Sept 16) evening that the incident took place at about 10.55pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
They added that the man, who was believed to be intoxicated at the time of the alleged act, had thrown a half-kilogramme rock at the glass door of PCC’s main entrance, causing it to shatter.<\/p>\n
A photograph of the aftermath shared by the police shows the shattered door covered in spiderweb-like cracks.<\/p>\n
Despite the extensive damage, the glass appeared to remain intact within its frame.<\/p>\n
If found guilty of the offence of vandalism, the 44-year-old could be jailed for up to three years, fined up to $2,000, and receive up to eight strokes of the cane.<\/p>\n
The police said they have “zero tolerance” for such acts of vandalism, adding that they will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.<\/p>\n
