Big players like Samsung, OPPO, and Honor have excellent ones, despite rampant price increases, inventory shortages, and geopolitical uncertainty hamstringing their efforts. On the US side, Google now has to contend with the iPhone Duo as well.<\/p>\nThen there\u2019s the added challenge of foldable creases. Serious innovation has gone into making it less noticeable. Cameras, too, are incrementally closing the gaps they once had compared with bar-type phones.<\/p>\nThis puts the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold<\/b> against serious competition, arguably more than it historically faced (at least, in this corner of the planet).<\/p>\nTo push through, Google is betting big on the software experience again. The Pixel 11 series is among the first (alongside the new Samsung Galaxy Z series) to offer Gemini Intelligence, including features like Rambler, Circle to Search in camera, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\nThere are also hardware upgrades, including brighter displays, a new main camera, and the HiLight LED array, which also appeared in the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL phones.\u00a0<\/p>\nIf you recall, we weren\u2019t particularly impressed by the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. That makes us hopeful the new foldable has improved significantly after we gave the phones a break from reviewing them. Has Google done enough to go up against other big players in the foldable space? This creates a small peculiarity in the phone\u2019s design, though. While it\u2019s not very noticeable at first, half of the device is ever-so-slightly thicker than the other.\u00a0<\/p>\nAdditionally, after having spent time with the new Samsung Z Fold8, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is noticeably less easy to open, despite having bevelled edges as well.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe device is slightly lighter at 239g<\/b>, but that comes with a trade-off. Google swapped the rear glass panel for a composite back that feels like fancy but flimsy plastic. We\u2019re not going to dig into it with a penknife \u00e0 la JerryRigEverything\u2019s hyper-destructive teardowns, but the cheap plastic toy texture is inevitable once you touch the device.<\/p>\n\nThe cameras are no longer flush with the island.<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe camera array reuses its effective block shape, but the glass cover now protrudes from the metal housing and spans the width of the bump. Additionally, the flash module has moved to the other side and is now integrated with Google\u2019s new HiLight LED indicator.\u00a0<\/p>\nWe\u2019ve penned our thoughts on the HiLight<\/b> feature in our review of the Pixel 11 series. To recap, the feature is in its infancy, and the foldable didn\u2019t get extra HiLight perks beyond what we\u2019ve already tried.<\/p>\nFor calls, HiLight gives you five colours to choose from. Multiple contacts can share the same colour, so you can group contacts based on their importance or relation to you (e.g. work contacts, family members, and friends). This lets you use colours to know if it\u2019s convenient to take certain calls, and how important they are.<\/p>\n\nThe crease is one of the more noticeable ones around.<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nGoogle has also upgraded the displays on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, with a new Super Actua display on the slightly larger 6.5-inch<\/b> outer screen, as well as 3,600 nits<\/b> of peak brightness on both screens (improved from 3,000 nits).\u00a0<\/p>\nThat said, a brighter display doesn\u2019t fix the reflectiveness. Glare is especially noticeable under bright lights or direct sunlight (Singapore has plenty of both; we found that out this way).<\/p>\nThe crease is less noticeable when looking straight at the display with content playing, but it\u2019s still very obvious to the touch. Viewing from an angle makes it even more prominent, thanks to the display’s reflectivity mentioned above.<\/p>\nThis is one area Google severely lags behind its main competitors like OPPO and Samsung (and now Apple, too). While it has improved slightly compared to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, it still feels outdated next to sexier foldables released in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\nOne thing that the Pixel 11 Pro Fold does better than most of the competition is rated dust and water resistance. At a certified IP68<\/b> dust and water resistance, this exceeds IP48 or IP59 ratings we see on Samsung or OPPO foldables, and it\u2019s on par with iPhone Duo and Honor Magic V6.<\/p>\nThe bright spot: clean software<\/h2>\nSoftware is where Pixel devices shine the brightest. Google has kept its efforts consistent over the years, from its promise of 7 years of software and security updates and support to a clean Android experience and early access to the newest features.<\/p>\nWe\u2019ve covered some of the Android 17 features in our Pixel 11 series review, such as the new Rambler voice-typing tool and Android\u2019s Quick Share now compatible with Apple AirDrop.<\/p>\nAdding on to that, there\u2019s also Proactive Assistance<\/b>, which we believe is a rebranded Magic Cue. We tried via WhatsApp, which resulted in\u2026 nothing. And before anybody asks, yes, we did make sure to turn the feature on in Settings, just as instructed here. This is going to be problematic given that Asian users are split across a huge variety of messaging apps (Facebook Messenger, Zalo, WeChat, Telegram, LINE, KakaoTalk, Signal, etc.), so Proactive Assistance is likely ignored by huge swathes of users in our little corner.<\/p>\n\nHiLight only worked for regular phone calls.<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe same thing happened when we played around with HiLight. A normal call would light up the HiLight\u2019s LED array based on your contact of choice, but a WhatsApp call from the same person doesn\u2019t.\u00a0<\/p>\nThese features are nice to have, and it\u2019s unfortunate that they are limited in use. It\u2019s not reasonable to expect all your contacts to use first-party apps for text messages and calls. Hopefully Google rolls out an update soon that makes it work universally.<\/p>\n\nBubbles can be quite helpful if you need a lot of apps open.<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nFor multitasking, there\u2019s Bubbles<\/b>, which is Google\u2019s version of an app\u2019s floating window. When it\u2019s paired with normal split-screen apps, you can have up to three apps open at once. Up to five apps can be bubbled at the same time, so power users who constantly switch between multiple apps might find this useful.\u00a0<\/p>\nImaging performance<\/h2>\n\nThe cameras aren\u2019t super strong on paper.<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nWhen compared to the rest of the Pixel 11 devices, the camera array on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is, strangely, the weakest on paper.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n48MP (main), f\/1.70 aperture, Quad PD, 85\u00b0 FOV, 1\/1.56\u201d sensor\u00a0<\/li>\n10.5MP (ultrawide), f\/2.2 aperture, Dual PD, 127\u00b0 FOV, 1\/3.4\u201d sensor\u00a0<\/li>\n10.8MP (telephoto), f\/3.1 aperture, 23\u00b0 FOV, 5x optical zoom, 1\/3.2\u201d sensor\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThe eagle-eyed among you might notice that, despite the \u201cPro\u201d in the name, Google\u2019s flagship foldable device uses the same 48MP main camera and 10.8MP telephoto camera as the\u00a0base Pixel 11<\/b>, with the 10.5MP ultrawide as the only difference.\u00a0<\/p>\nDespite that, the photos out of the phone are acceptable. Photos taken with the main camera are relatively sharp and detailed, with pleasant, accurate colours. On the other hand, the ultrawide images are the weakest of the bunch, with a slightly softer result.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe 5x optical zoom isn\u2019t too shabby, but the phone would have benefited from the 48MP ultrawide and telephoto lenses the other Pro devices get.\u00a0There\u2019s a noticeable brightening of the image when switching to the 5x optical telephoto lens, so shooting the same subject across the focal ranges won\u2019t result in consistent images.<\/p>\nLow light images are nicely rendered with accurate exposure and colours. As long as you can keep your hands relatively stable when the shot is being taken, there\u2019s a good amount of detail and sharpness retained as well.<\/p>\nBenchmark performance<\/h2>\nHow we test smartphones: here.<\/p>\nJust like the rest of the Pixel 11 devices, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold uses the Google Tensor G6<\/b> chipset designed by Google and manufactured on a 3nm process<\/b>.<\/p>\nFor this benchmark, we\u2019ll compare it to the last folding phone from Google we reviewed, along with other foldable competitors available in Singapore.<\/p>\nNote:<\/i><\/b> The Pixel 11 series can\u2019t participate in Solar Bay Unlimited benchmarks by 3DMark, which specifically tests hardware-based ray-tracing capabilities in gaming graphics.<\/i><\/p>\nOddly enough, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold lags behind the other Pixel devices despite using the same processor. As is usually the case with Pixel devices, though, the numbers in the benchmarks aren\u2019t everything.<\/p>\nThe phone runs perfectly fine in normal, daily use, although it can get a bit warm if you\u2019re running graphically intensive games like Where Winds Meet<\/i> on the highest settings.\u00a0<\/p>\nBattery life<\/h2>\nOur battery benchmark uses PCMark for Android\u2019s Work 3.0 Battery Life, with results shown in minutes. This controlled benchmark simulates real-world usage, such as web and social media browsing, video and photo editing, parsing data with various file formats, writing, and more. The test starts at 100% and ends with 20% left on the device.<\/p>\n\nUptime in minutes, the longer, the better<\/p>\nImage: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe 4,806mAh<\/b> battery in the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the smallest in the lineup, and it\u2019s also minuscule next to book-style foldable competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (5,000mAh), Honor Magic V6 (6,600mAh) or OPPO Find N6 (6,000mAh).\u00a0<\/p>\nDespite that, Google seems to have implemented some effective battery optimisations, with the phone actually managing to last longer than both the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the Honor Magic V6. It’s worth remembering, however, that those alternatives have a far more powerful chipset for graphics and general workloads.<\/p>\nPixel 11 Pro Fold supports 30W<\/b> wired charging and Qi2.2-certified PixelSnap wireless charging up to 25W. A full charge takes about 140 minutes, but if you start charging while the battery is low, you can activate a new feature called Extreme Charging Mode<\/b>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\nYou can activate Extreme Charging Mode from Quick Settings, Battery Settings or the lock screen.<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nWhile the name suggests otherwise, this new charging mode doesn\u2019t actually increase the phone\u2019s charging speed past 30W. It just pauses background tasks and raises the thermal limit before throttling charging speeds. We managed to get a full charge from 0% in just 86 minutes, but the phone\u2019s temperature reached 42.8\u00b0C<\/b> during charging, considerably higher than the 37.2\u00b0C seen via normal charging.\u00a0<\/p>\nWhile it\u2019s a helpful tool for quick charging bursts, the higher temperatures will likely accelerate battery degradation, especially if you use Extreme Charging Mode frequently.\u00a0It is also higher than what phone gamers typically experience, so be careful when you\u2019re using this charging mode.<\/p>\nConclusion<\/h2>\n\nThe hardware needs to catch up to the software.<\/p>\nPhoto: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nPixel phones have long been lauded for their excellent software. While that might be enough to offset the lacklustre hardware on other Pixel 11 phones, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a harder pill to swallow.\u00a0<\/p>\nWith prices starting at S$2,499 (256GB)<\/b>, consumers are well within their rights to expect a premium device paired with a premium experience. Google\u2019s change to a plasticky back, the odd decision to have both sides of the phone mismatched in thickness, and a HiLight LED notification feature that doesn\u2019t play nice with third-party apps don\u2019t do it any favours.\u00a0<\/p>\nThis is exacerbated by a rapidly growing, innovative foldable market; it feels like Google is lagging far behind, with no intention of seriously competing for a larger market share.\u00a0<\/p>\n\nThe crease must go. Brands have been going above and beyond to try and make it as unobtrusive and invisible as possible, breaking out their own fixes, materials, layouts, and even manufacturing methods. For Google, the lack of advancements made this its top foldable problem to fix.<\/p>\nWhile the software and polish are already there, Google still has a laundry list of hardware upgrades to make. Perhaps expecting a gold-standard foldable was a huge ask on our part.<\/p>\nPricing and availability<\/h2>\nThe Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold retails from S$2,499<\/b> for the 16GB RAM + 256GB storage model. Software is where Pixel devices shine the brightest. Google has kept its efforts consistent over the years, from its promise of 7 years of software and security updates and support to a clean Android experience and early access to the newest features.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve covered some of the Android 17 features in our Pixel 11 series review, such as the new Rambler voice-typing tool and Android\u2019s Quick Share now compatible with Apple AirDrop.<\/p>\n
Adding on to that, there\u2019s also Proactive Assistance<\/b>, which we believe is a rebranded Magic Cue. As long as you can keep your hands relatively stable when the shot is being taken, there\u2019s a good amount of detail and sharpness retained as well.<\/p>\nBenchmark performance<\/h2>\nHow we test smartphones: here.<\/p>\nJust like the rest of the Pixel 11 devices, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold uses the Google Tensor G6<\/b> chipset designed by Google and manufactured on a 3nm process<\/b>.<\/p>\nFor this benchmark, we\u2019ll compare it to the last folding phone from Google we reviewed, along with other foldable competitors available in Singapore.<\/p>\nNote:<\/i><\/b> The Pixel 11 series can\u2019t participate in Solar Bay Unlimited benchmarks by 3DMark, which specifically tests hardware-based ray-tracing capabilities in gaming graphics.<\/i><\/p>\nOddly enough, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold lags behind the other Pixel devices despite using the same processor. As is usually the case with Pixel devices, though, the numbers in the benchmarks aren\u2019t everything.<\/p>\nThe phone runs perfectly fine in normal, daily use, although it can get a bit warm if you\u2019re running graphically intensive games like Where Winds Meet<\/i> on the highest settings.\u00a0<\/p>\nBattery life<\/h2>\nOur battery benchmark uses PCMark for Android\u2019s Work 3.0 Battery Life, with results shown in minutes. This controlled benchmark simulates real-world usage, such as web and social media browsing, video and photo editing, parsing data with various file formats, writing, and more. The test starts at 100% and ends with 20% left on the device.<\/p>\n\nUptime in minutes, the longer, the better<\/p>\nImage: HWZ<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe 4,806mAh<\/b> battery in the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the smallest in the lineup, and it\u2019s also minuscule next to book-style foldable competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (5,000mAh), Honor Magic V6 (6,600mAh) or OPPO Find N6 (6,000mAh).\u00a0<\/p>\nDespite that, Google seems to have implemented some effective battery optimisations, with the phone actually managing to last longer than both the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the Honor Magic V6. It’s worth remembering, however, that those alternatives have a far more powerful chipset for graphics and general workloads.<\/p>\nPixel 11 Pro Fold supports 30W<\/b> wired charging and Qi2.2-certified PixelSnap wireless charging up to 25W. The eagle-eyed among you might notice that, despite the \u201cPro\u201d in the name, Google\u2019s flagship foldable device uses the same 48MP main camera and 10.8MP telephoto camera as the\u00a0base Pixel 11<\/b>, with the 10.5MP ultrawide as the only difference.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite that, the photos out of the phone are acceptable. Photos taken with the main camera are relatively sharp and detailed, with pleasant, accurate colours. On the other hand, the ultrawide images are the weakest of the bunch, with a slightly softer result.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 5x optical zoom isn\u2019t too shabby, but the phone would have benefited from the 48MP ultrawide and telephoto lenses the other Pro devices get.\u00a0There\u2019s a noticeable brightening of the image when switching to the 5x optical telephoto lens, so shooting the same subject across the focal ranges won\u2019t result in consistent images.<\/p>\n
Low light images are nicely rendered with accurate exposure and colours. As long as you can keep your hands relatively stable when the shot is being taken, there\u2019s a good amount of detail and sharpness retained as well.<\/p>\n
