Wolverine actor Liam McIntyre has seen what fans are saying about him and Insomniac’s latest superhero game, but it’s no skin off his nose.<\/p>\n

Marvel\u2019s Wolverine is out in the wild for many players worldwide, and opinions have been strong, to say the least. Discourse around the game has been unavoidable over the last month, with a vocal swath of players taking issue with Insomniac\u2019s art direction, character design, and gameplay segments that were shown off by the media and early reviews.<\/p>\n

One of the core topics of the Wolverine debate is actor Liam McIntyre, who plays the game\u2019s titular character. Some fans don\u2019t believe he bears a close enough resemblance to the iconic mutant, while others feel that Insomniac\u2019s face scans and art style didn\u2019t do his visage justice.<\/p>\n

McIntyre has been excitedly posting about his role as Wolverine ever since his involvement was first announced, and some players have just now realized that he\u2019s been seeing what they\u2019re saying about him on social media this entire time.<\/p>\n

In response to one of these players, McIntyre lightheartedly remarked that he\u2019s seen much worse said about him ever since he started his acting career.<\/p>\n

McIntyre did, indeed, play the historical Spartacus in Starz\u2019s 2010s miniseries of the same name. The late great Andy Whitfield notably played the role of Spartacus in the show\u2019s first season, Blood and Sand, but was diagnosed with stage IV non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the blood, before the second season was filmed.<\/p>\n

After his death in 2011, McIntyre was tasked with taking over the role \u2014 something that sparked strong reactions from fans at the time, though many now remember his time in the show fondly.<\/p>\n

All that is to say, McIntyre is no stranger to vocal opinions from fans in response to taking on the mantle of iconic characters who are known to be played by a certain actor. Wolverine has been portrayed by Hugh Jackman in nearly all modern mainline X-Men films, and McIntyre\u2019s take on the character is a big change for viewers who are used to seeing Jackman on screen \u2014 but McIntyre is excited for players to experience his version of the grizzled mutant, come what may.<\/p>\n

Marvel\u2019s Wolverine has been met with mixed reviews from critics; IGN gave the game a six out of 10, calling it \u201cstandard superhero fare\u201d whose \u201cslick and satisfying combat wears thin well before its conclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n
