Beyond the Cruise spy thriller Mission: Impossible<\/em> (1996) and Amadeus<\/em> (1984), winner of eight Oscars, recent films include Blade Runner 2099<\/em> and A Place Called Home<\/em>. Then there are the television shows, says Hedvika Petrzelkova, a public relations officer at the Czech Film Commission. \u201cThere are around 30 to 40 film and TV series projects each year,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Prague is a city popular with producers and film crews, and the place to go for film fans who like city breaks.<\/p>\n

Petrzelkova spells out why the Czech capital is popular as a film location: \u201cThe historic city, with its Gothic, Renaissance and baroque architecture, is in good condition. What\u2019s more, it\u2019s not as expensive to film here as it is elsewhere. And the Czech film crews have \u2018golden hands\u2019, as they say here. They\u2019re known for being able to sort anything out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
