However, ANC is no longer the main differentiator between the two models, as it is now standard across both AirPods 5 options<\/b>.<\/p>\n What\u2019s more, Apple says the AirPods 5\u00a0cancel out 50% more noise<\/b>\u00a0than the AirPods 4 with ANC.<\/p>\n Apple\u2019s massive focus on Siri AI undoubtedly went to the new AirPods, too. As seen in its keynote, you can speak to Siri AI hands-free <\/b>on the AirPods 5. It\u2019s fully functional, with the ability to draw on past conversations and data from third-party apps, plus improved dictation.<\/p>\n And when Apple says \u201chands-free\u201d, it includes nodding or shaking your head to discreetly respond to Siri AI.<\/p>\n Adjacent to Siri AI is the support for Live Translation<\/b>. You can activate it by pressing on both stems at the same time, using the Action button on an iPhone, or by saying \u201cSiri, start Live Translation\u201d.<\/p>\n With ANC now standard across the AirPods 5 lineup, the Wireless Charging Case now separates the standard and more expensive AirPods 5 options.<\/p>\n Image: Apple<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n The AirPods 5 also features a new multiport acoustic architecture, as well as next-generation adaptive EQ. Apple wasn\u2019t specific with what these actually improve, but it stated that the AirPods 5 has more detailed sound output for a wider range of ear shapes. It also said that Personalised Spatial Audio has been made more immersive.<\/p>\n For the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case, it gains on-stem volume control<\/b>, something previously locked to the AirPods Pro line.<\/p>\n The standard AirPods 5 sports 4 hours of playback with ANC<\/b> and 20 hours with the case<\/b>. As for the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case, Apple touts 5 hours of ANC playback<\/b>, and 22 hours with the case<\/b>. The company also stated that the AirPods 5 has a \u201cre-engineered\u201d battery cell, though it\u2019s not immediately clear whether Apple has switched the AirPods\u2019s battery chemistry to silicon-carbon.<\/p>\n Finally, despite these improvements, there\u2019s no generational upgrade in the chipset. The AirPods 5 are powerd by the H2 chip<\/b>, the same one found in the AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods Max 2.<\/p>\n ANC across the lineup might be big news, but so is the pricing.<\/p>\n Image: Apple<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n The AirPods 5 retails at S$199<\/b>, while the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case will cost S$219<\/b>. Notably, the standard AirPods 5 cost the same as their predecessor without ANC, something that Apple was keen to point out. The AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case is also S$30 cheaper than the previous AirPods 4 with ANC.<\/p>\n Pre-orders for the AirPods 5 begin on 11 September 2026 at 9am SGT<\/b>.
