1. Chilai Howard at the Goethe-Institut<\/h3>\n

Hong Kong interdisciplinary designer and artist Chilai Howard\u2019s solo exhibition, \u201cA Self-Portrait: The Process of Erasing\u201d is running at the Goethe-Institut Hongkong until October 6. The introspective showcase explores themes of memory, personal objects and the self.<\/p>\n

Howard takes objects associated with different stages of his life and coats them in a thin layer of metal. Instead of destroying the objects, he strips them of their everyday function, sealing their original surfaces and transforming them into relic-like forms. While the physical item survives, key fragments of its past identity are now forever hidden.<\/p>\n
