Singapore-based Oral Link has developed an AI dental analysis tool<\/b> that has received certification from Singapore\u2019s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) as a Class B medical device<\/b> and is the first of its kind to achieve this status.<\/p>\n
When using Oral Link\u2019s AI dental screening software, consumers only need to submit five photographs of their teeth<\/b> taken using their smartphone to obtain a diagnosis without the need for a radiograph or an in-person clinic visit.<\/p>\n
The AI engine does this by generating a structured dental health report from the submitted photographs, categorising findings by location, severity, and type of concern, along with an overall risk classification.<\/p>\n
Current AI tools are designed for clinical use and analyse X-rays taken by a dentist to develop a diagnosis and chart.<\/p>\n
Glenn Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Oral Link, said:<\/p>\n
\u201cIt validates years of clinical and technical work. This means we can now bring AI-powered dental screening directly to individuals and communities, with the full confidence of HSA\u2019s regulatory oversight behind it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Oral Link has already trialled the AI tool at screening events held at Siglap Community Centre and Kreta Ayer Community Centre. The company is also working with Nanyang Polytechnic to create an AI companion chatbot to help users understand their results and navigate any next steps, if required.<\/p>\n
