What started as a joke on six-year-old Sarah Aafiyah<\/a> after the National Day Rally<\/a> has turned into a heartwarming charity initiative within just days.<\/p>\n

Humairah Suhaimi, 36, jokingly told her daughter on Aug 26 that Prime Minister Lawrence Wong wanted Singaporeans to have more children, prompting a tearful reaction from the younger of two siblings.<\/p>\n

Determined not to become a \u201cbig sister\u201d, the preschooler wrote an appeal letter to \u201cLorens Wong\u201d.<\/p>\n

The letter later inspired her parents to create their own line of merchandise with the charmingly misspelled name as the tagline. The family plans to donate half of the proceeds to charity.<\/p>\n

\u2018Most famous girl in school\u2019<\/h2>\n

In the handwritten letter, Sarah said she did not want another sibling as she was afraid she would not be allowed to sleep next to her mother.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though you want to give us a lot of money, we don\u2019t need more money,\u201d she wrote.\u00a0\u201cPlease Lorens Wong. I love Singapore. Love Sarah.\u201d<\/p>\n

With her mother\u2019s help, Sarah\u2019s letter was mailed to the Prime Minister\u2019s Office on Aug 27.<\/p>\n

Before sending it, Humairah also emailed PM Wong to explain the context, in case he was wondering what the letter was about.<\/p>\n

To her surprise, she received an email response just days later \u2014 from PM Wong himself.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Stomp, the mother of two said she had initially shared the series of events on her personal Instagram Stories, where it drew amused responses from friends and family.<\/p>\n

She later shared the story with various media outlets, and Sarah quickly found herself getting plenty of attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cInitially when I told her about her going viral, she didn\u2019t express much of a reaction,\u201d said Humairah.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut on Monday, she went to school and got a lot of attention from her friends and teachers\u2026she candidly told me that she\u2019s the \u2018most famous girl in school\u2019 now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dear Lorens Wong, Love Sarah<\/h2>\n

Sarah\u2019s humorous words and phrases are nothing new to the family.<\/p>\n

Her parents have long kept track of what they call \u201cSarah-isms\u201d, including mispronounced words such as \u201chanitiser\u201d for hand sanitiser and \u201ccubby-net\u201d for cubby or cabinet.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe would create words that make more sense than the word itself,\u201d Humairah said with a laugh.<\/p>\n

Netizens reacting to Sarah\u2019s letter were also quick to point out some of her misspellings, such as \u201csiblinks\u201d and \u201cSingapor\u201d.<\/p>\n

Seeing how much attention his daughter\u2019s story had received, Sarah\u2019s father, Khairul Mondzi, realised her unique phrases could become \u201csomething big\u201d.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old executive creative director then had the idea to create the Instagram handle @DearLorensWongLoveSarah<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The name, he said, is \u201cpurposefully very long\u201d as a nod to one of Sarah\u2019s most endearing traits: speaking in sentences that sometimes \u201cgo on and on\u201d.<\/p>\n

With the help of his wife, he immediately began mocking up designs for tote bags and stickers based on Sarah\u2019s drawings.<\/p>\n

The brand, Dear Lorens Wong, Love Sarah, can now be found on Shopee, with a foldable canvas tote bag priced at $19.90 and six laptop sticker designs at $3.90 each available for pre-order.<\/p>\n

The couple said they were simply \u201ctrying something new and fun\u201d, and that it was Humairah\u2019s idea to donate 50 per cent of the proceeds to a charity while the remaining would be set aside for the children\u2019s savings.<\/p>\n

\u2018Big Daddy say, must follow\u2019<\/h2>\n

Sarah and her nine-year-old brother Adam Raees first met PM Wong in person at an LBKM anniversary dinner event in 2025. Before that, they only knew him as Singapore\u2019s \u201cBig Daddy\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201c(The term) \u2018Big Daddy\u2019 actually started with Lee Hsien Loong<\/a>, over the Covid period,\u201d Khairul explained.<\/p>\n

Adam was much younger during the pandemic and did not understand why they had to be cooped up at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo help them understand the concept of a government, we use the term Big Daddy (to describe the Prime Minister),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBig Daddy say cannot go out\u2026 Big Daddy say less screen time<\/a>, must follow.\u201d<\/p>\n

The term also proved rather useful in the couple\u2019s parenting, as they could invoke \u201cBig Daddy\u201d for any rules that they wanted the children to adhere to at home.<\/p>\n

\u201c(To them) Daddy is someone who has authority, so Big Daddy must have the biggest authority over all of us,\u201d Humairah said with a chuckle.<\/p>\n

That perhaps explains why Sarah became so emotional when her mother told her: \u201cBig Daddy want us to have more babies!\u201d<\/p>\n

Still wants to remain the youngest<\/h2>\n

When Stomp asked if she had changed her mind about her parents having another baby, Sarah\u2019s answer was simple: \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

But contrary to what some might think, Sarah\u2019s strong feelings were not the reason her parents decided against having more children.<\/p>\n

Humairah and Khairul had decided early in their marriage to have only two children, especially after experiencing challenges during both pregnancies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Both Sarah and Adam were also delivered via emergency caesarean sections.<\/p>\n

Looking back at their children\u2019s turbulent starts to life, the couple said they were amused by the personalities they had grown into.<\/p>\n

\u201cSarah was very quiet, very gentle when she was young\u2026 now she\u2019s like this,\u201d Khairul said with a raucous laugh. \u201cYou wouldn\u2019t know until a certain age, and you\u2019ll see your child\u2019s character develop.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has zero filter, which is funny, but sometimes I do have to stop her before she says something wrong,\u201d Humairah added sheepishly.<\/p>\n

While Sarah is now aware of her newfound fame, she is not too fazed by the merchandise her parents have created.<\/p>\n

She did, however, perk up at the thought of earning some money from the initiative.<\/p>\n

As for which charity will benefit, Humairah said: \u201cIt\u2019s very new, so when the funds come then we\u2019ll see how it goes\u2026 but (definitely) something children-related.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Sarah and Adam\u2019s share? That will go straight into a savings account called the \u201cNo New Sibling Fund\u201d.<\/p>\n
