As such, you have to spend some time in the campaign taking out her blood guards and disrupting her research into ancient ruins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Down the line, one of Brencis\u2019 soldiers, Leonard, will show up and ask you to eliminate Xanthe. He\u2019ll give you a lantern that grants access to her lair, a foreboding castle called Howling Keep. Be ready because you\u2019re about to venture into one of the creepiest areas in the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note 1: <\/strong>Howling Keep is west of Tantari Woods. Once the quest is active, track the \u201cGet to the mansion\u201d objective to make the marker appear on your map.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note 2:<\/strong> Xanthe also appears in the Svartrau City cathedral at night, and only once fairly early in the game. The fortress itself has numerous statues of desiccated humanoids, and placing a lantern in their hand removes the corrupted growths that block your path.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you\u2019re inside the main hall, take a look at your surroundings. You\u2019ll see a statue with a lantern but you don\u2019t need to grab it yet.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the room to your right to meet a woman named Iasmina. It seems that she\u2019s terrified of the Painted Door.<\/li>\n<li>This painted door is at the end of the hallway, but the path is barred since there are two statues and you need two lanterns.<\/li>\n<li>In any case, take the lantern in Iasmina\u2019s room and go back to the staircase overlooking the main hall. Place the lantern in the statue there to prevent the door from being barred.<\/li>\n<li>Return to the second-floor hallway outside Iasmina\u2019s room and take the lantern. Here\u2019s what you need to do next in The Blood of Dawnwalker Cycle of Love quest:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As you\u2019re walking down the staircase, enter the room to your right and place a lantern in the statue\u2019s hand.<\/li>\n<li>In the adjacent room, you\u2019ll find a Cycle of Ruin Manual and a letter from a certain \u201cL.\u201d Looks like there\u2019s another vrakhiri in Svartrau City, and you can meet her in a quest called <strong>A Friend Like This<\/strong>. Pick up the lantern when you leave the room.<\/li>\n<li>Next, go to the staircase at the opposite side of the main hall. Place the lantern here.<\/li>\n<li>The two rooms off to the side should become accessible. You\u2019ll find the Recipe for Venom Claws Ampoule (epic consumable) and Recipe for Potent Aetheric Attunement (legendary consumable).<\/li>\n<li>The Relic of St. Dassius is also on a bench. It\u2019s a legendary amulet with witchcraft ability damage, witchcraft health cost, AC restoration (actions), and AC restoration (passive).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure data-wp-interactive=\"core\/image\" data-wp-context=\"{ &quot;core&quot;: { &quot;image&quot;: { &quot;initialized&quot;: true } } }\" class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-ref-id=\"1876254\" data-wp-on--click=\"actions.core.image.showLightbox\" style=\"cursor: zoom-in\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/blood-of-dawnwalker-cycle-of-love-xanthe-3.jpg?w=636\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1876254\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Grab a few goodies from this haunted house.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3 id=\"h-the-yard-and-the-kennels\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The yard and the kennels<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After our little looting detour, it\u2019s time to proceed deeper into the keep:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure you still have both lanterns with you. Place one of them in the hand of the statue on the ground floor.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the yard and defeat the spectral enemies. Then, check the small building just beyond. You\u2019ll find a Recipe for Supernatural\u2019s Blood Infusion (epic consumable) next to the cadaver of a woman.<\/li>\n<li>Take the lantern from the statue in this room. This will cause the corrupted growths to disappear, revealing a trapdoor.<\/li>\n<li>Drop down and defeat more zombie-like enemies and loot the Key to the Kennels. It unlocks the door that leads you back to the main hall.<\/li>\n<li>Take the lantern from the statue on the ground floor and eliminate all the hostiles that spawn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure data-wp-interactive=\"core\/image\" data-wp-context=\"{ &quot;core&quot;: { &quot;image&quot;: { &quot;initialized&quot;: true } } }\" class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-ref-id=\"1876272\" data-wp-on--click=\"actions.core.image.showLightbox\" style=\"cursor: zoom-in\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gamespot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/blood-of-dawnwalker-cycle-of-love-xanthe-4.jpg?w=636\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1876272\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Slay foes as you make your way back to the main hall.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3 id=\"h-the-painted-door-chariklea-and-xanthe-boss-fight\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Painted Door: Chariklea and Xanthe boss fight<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ve got three lanterns with you now, so it\u2019s time to conclude The Cycle of Love quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Return to the second-floor hallway and go to the end. You\u2019ll be able to place lanterns in the hands of both statues.<\/li>\n<li>Pass through the Painted Door and talk to the mysterious girl named Chariklea. (It\u2019s eventually revealed that she\u2019s Xanthe\u2019s daughter.)<\/li>\n<li>Suddenly, Xanthe will attack Coen, tossing him back to the yard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Xanthe boss fight in The Blood of Dawnwalker can be somewhat tricky due to her mastery of witchcraft and demonic spells:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wicked Tendrils &#8211; Lashes out with tendrils\/tentacles.<\/li>\n<li>Boiling Blood &#8211; Creates glyphs on the ground that explode after a short delay.<\/li>\n<li>Life Leech &#8211; Seeps your health to restore her own.<\/li>\n<li>Life Orbs &#8211; After depleting each health segment, she\u2019ll spawn several orbs that gradually restore her health.<\/li>\n<li>Blood Rush &#8211; When she\u2019s low HP, she\u2019ll keep rushing toward you before triggering an explosion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Xanthe\u2019s Boiling Blood and Blood Rush abilities can be dodged, so no worries there. As for her Wicked Tendrils, you can hold down the block button and press the directional input where each tentacle is coming from. If you can block these in quick succession, she\u2019ll be staggered briefly. In fact, she\u2019ll make a deal:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you spare her life, she\u2019ll help you during the finale when you storm Greifberg Castle.<\/li>\n<li>Of course, you could still drain her blood.
